I know somebody who wants me to build them a rod on a Whiteriver blank. He had one a year ago but it broke into 6 pieces and then the 2 of the peices split in half ( it looks really sad ). He said it was a great casting rod, it was a 7/8 or a 8/9 9ft. Are they still in business or are they gone. If they are gone, what rods have a similar action. Any info is appreciated Thanks Brian Re: Whiteriver Blanks

I have never heard of this type blank. Do you know who the manufacturer was? Re: Whiteriver Blanks

Brian, White River is the brand name for Bass Pro Shops own fly fishing equipment. You can get White River fly reels, rods and accesories. I have no idea who makes the blanks or assembles the rods for Bass Pro Shops. Wish I could help. Bill Doherty Re: Whiteriver Blanks

Bass Pro Shop blanks, and rods are all made overseas. I have spoken with a former sales rep to Bass Pro. If you knew how much their top of the line blanks cost them to make, you would be, ah, surprised. They are built overseas, nuff said. Buzz Re: Whiteriver Blanks

Overseas components and blanks are not necessarily bad. In fact, some are quite good. Most of the makers will build to whatever level the buyer asks for. However, I would agree that the specific blank in question is not what I would want to build a custom rod on. I was thinking that BPS fly stuff is labeled under the "Crystal River" brand. But then I really don't keep up with the factory rods much anymore. ............................ Re: Whiteriver Blanks
