LRSG type are what I normally use for stand-up rods. I have not tried them with a spiral wrap and you might choose something a bit lower frame for the transition guides if you decide to go that route. You didn't mention the line class rating of your rod. Depending upon that, there are many guide types that could work well. ................ Re: spiral wrap guides

well i would use the fuji silicon carbide power oval concept guides model# dbsg or wdbsg they have stainless frames with superhard rings. or if you like pacbay look at the heavy duty boat rod guide series model rb they come with silicone or hialoy rings . style's are (sic) rbsg, (hialoy) rbhg, you can get them in (3) different finishes bright,(chrome looking) black , tich. hope this helps and tightwraps John T Burford aka Tightline Rod's Re: spiral wrap guides

also if you get past your sprial transition the idea of roller guides sounds like an option the look might bea little different but function over flash is the objective right ....jtb Re: spiral wrap guides

Darrell: I just talked with John Stumpe, who builds a number of Robert wraps or spiral wraps for customers and asked him the same question you asked. I am also going to build two on Calstar blanks. John's advise was to use the USG (SIC) guides starting at the 0 radius on the right side of the first guide and then about every 60 degrees to the 180 axis. He starts with a 25, 16, (2)12, then finishes with #10. The first four guides make the wrap. John's been doing it for a long time so I value his opinion. Hope this helps Mike Brooks Re: spiral wrap guides

Here are three styles of Fuji SIC guides to consider. The USG, as mentioned. The HNSG, a heavier version of the NSG and the newest of the SIC group, that is of the Concept stlye, MNSG. Bob McKamey -- Custom Tackle Supply Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
