I am planning on going to Colorado on my honeymoon next year and seeing if anyone here knows of a very nice place to stay. like a bed and breakfast type of place. I also plan on doing some flyfishing so It would be nice if there was a place to rent the gear nearby. Maybey some horse riding and whitewater rafting would be good too. Re: Colorado?

Travis: I have been to Durango and loved it very much. Great little college town, great fishing and other neat stuff to do. Mesa Verde is not too far away and you can take a beautiful train ride to Silverton (although I suggest you take the bus back , going up and back on the train is a bit much). Not sure about rafting although the Animas River goes through town is large. Spencer Re: Colorado?

Colorado is FULL of just what you are looking for. Maybe an internet search would be best to find what you want. Eric Re: Colorado?

Travis. The Allairs Timber Inn in Breckenridge Co. Built as a lodge but very homey. Fishing in the Blue River that runs through town and park. There was 2 flyshops last I checked, and 1 in Silverthorne. 90 minutes from Denver International. Re: Colorado?

Forgot to mention an equestrian center towards Frisco and rafting in Clear Creek below Georgetown. Also the Georgetown Loop scenic narrow guage railroad a must. Oddly, one of my favorite spots is the outlet mall in Silverthorne, 20 minutes from Breck. The wife can shop while you fish the Blue as it runs directly through this area. There is a mall bridge that spans the river. When the wife is finished shopping, have her stroll up the established hike and bike trail til she sees you. Re: Colorado?

I just got back from a week in CO. We rented a beautiful cabin in the mountains just 25 minutes from Brekenridge... near Alma... in an area called Peaceful Valley. What a great week. The cabin was very new, modern, and comfortable and is in a great, quiet location with spectacular views. It is less than a mile from Montgomery Reservoir which is full of 10 to 14 inch rainbows that are suckers for green wooly buggers and zonkers and a lot of fun even for a beginner with a fly rod. I taught my father and brother in law how to fly fish and they had a blast at this little reservoir. There is also easy access to the middle fork of the South Platte River and about a 40 mile drive to Spinney Mountain Reservoir... home of trophy sized trout. Check www.cabinsincolorado.com for details on this cabin... I'd highly recommend it. Erik Re: Colorado?

The Redstone Inn is a pretty nice hotel and the drive is worth it. Not far from Basalt and the confluence of the Fork and the Pan. A couple of flyshops in Basalt. Rafting on the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs and a flyshop there. IMO not as nice as the Breck vacation. Crystal not a great river. The Inn will sell you a day pass to their section of river. Aspen is close by though. About 4 hours from Denver. You can easily do Breck/Vail and Redstone/Aspen in the same vacation. Re: Colorado?

Pretty much any resort town in CO has what you are looking for. In the Vail/Beaver Creek/ Avon area, the Eagle River runs from Minturn until it meets up with the Colorado, Gore Creek (Gold Medal Water) which runs through Vail, there is horseback riding in Eagle (45 minutes from Vail, There are a number of rafting outfitters in the area. As Don mentioned above, the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan river in the Aspen area are two of the most beautiful rivers in CO. There is also Canon City about 3 hours southwest of Denver where the Arkansas River runs through. Rafting, horseback riding, trains, cabins, B&B's, this quaint little town really has it all.
