Single foot concepts: V or Fly?

Noticed that the new concept guide system most often employs the use of single foot ceramic fly guides from the choke point to the tip, which is either a light spin/cast or a fly top. I know they are lighter, but is it really necessary to go that route? Couldn't you just use, say size 6 V single foot guides and a regular top? I'm asking because a setup I had in mind doesn't have the same finish available on the single foot fly guides as the V guides, and also the fly tops aren't available in the ring/tube size combination I require, as well as the finish. Your plan will work and still be better than cone of flight spacing. However, it just won't be quite as good as using the fly guides. Anything lighter is going to be better as far as guides go, so just find the lightest guides you can that will work for your application. Phil Re: Single foot concepts: V or Fly?

Okeycokey!!! I was wondering how much weight difference does it actually make on a shorter spin rod where you would only use, say, a maximum of 4 of the fly guides. I'm willing to compromise on the finish situation, but only if I can get the tube size/ring size combo that I need. Re: Single foot concepts: V or Fly?

It will work pretty well. The only thing is that the V style single foots are not terribly durable IMO. The lower fly type single foots don't tend to snag on stuff and get bent or twisted. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
