Your reel is a novel item, but not really worth anything in a monetary sense. There are plenty of them still around. It is an interesting item for your personal collection I would think, considering it is still new and in the box. .......... Re: Martin Fly Reel Automatic Help Please

Novel item is right. I used one of these way back in the 40's when, as far as I know, they first came out. Several companies made them for awhile but finally they went away. They worked ok for pan fish or small trout. It becomes a total disaster if you get anything on there that pulls drag. Not to mention an accidental touch of the trigger when line is out and the rewind spring is tight. Collectable for sure. I'll give you 20 bucks. Capt. Harold Re: Martin Fly Reel Automatic Help Please

I guess those of use old enough to remember these things are telling our age. Those reels were made by many years and eventually many reel companies made their own versions. If you ever took one apart for any reason good luck getting that spring back in there! If you hit the trigger by accident on a short line you could remove your guides in a flash! Either that or break a delicate bamboo rod! Those were the days. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
