Thanks for all your replies guys. I have found the pulleys I am after on the Batson site. The drier motor is item "E" but for some reason the pulley is not listed? I have asked my good friend John Repacci to contact them in the hope they can supply me with 3 and John will send them over. John has helped me many times in the past and I have been blessed with making a real friend with

Hi Guys, need some help please. I'm building up my rod wrapper/drier lathe and need a couple of drier motor pulleys. The ones I am looking for are the aluminum ones not the plastic ones and for the life of me I cant remember who supplies them. Obviously I need to get them shipped over here to the UK. Can anyone remember which wrapper they are fitted to and where I can buy them please? Thanks

Hi John/Bill, thanks for that. I'm being told this finish is part of the design, I must admit it looks good although the transition takes some getting used to. John, hope you're well my friend, stay in touch and Anne sends her love. Regards, Phil.

Just took delivery of a 5 piece MHX 9 ft #5 fly blank. Looking at it the butt section and half way up the second section have a nice "marbled" finish yet from there on up the blank has the standard "ring" type finish. Is this how the blanks are supplied or do I need to return it? Philip

So should we use the specific tiptop hot melt glue as supplied by Flexcoat etc or would any glue stick be ok? I can get hold of a hobby gun and supplies of the sicks easily and wonder if there is any real difference between them? Philip

A good indication is to weigh out 75 gramms of lead shot, (or similar), into a plastic bag then tie the bag to your thread carrier. If it just holds that's a good starting point for tension. Philip

Been thinking about using FlexCoat guide adhesive to hold single foot guides prior to wrapping. A couple of questions though: 1. If the adhesive is that good you can hold the rod up by it as in their advert how on earth can you adjust the gudes position once wrapped? 2. Do you have to use the guide foot adhesive or would any hot melt glue work, say for instance tip top glue. Any comments are

Thanks Russell, that's what I hoped would be the case. I can get hold of a variable voltage power supply but was worried the higher amps might be a problem. Does anyone else have problems with the syncronous motors burning out? Cheers, Philip

Hi guys, have decided to fit a 30rpm DC motor to my rod drier as I keep burning out the syncronous motors supplied with it. I've got hold of a 30rpm DC motor that will do the job but not sure what power source to use as the motor is rated 30Ma. I've found power sources that are rated 2 amp, 3 amp and higher but are these too powerful to run this motor? I live over here in the UK so all our pow

I've been given a carbon blank to clean up the old epoxy from. I'm thinking about using acetone but concerned it may damage the blank and more importantly my health. I've cleaned up as much by scraping carefully but still need to get rid of the residual, any ideas? Philip

Have decided to try a dc motor for my rod drier so have gotten hold of one from @#$%&. It arrived today but noticed the 2 spade end connectors on the motor are really small, say 1.7mm wide and 0.4 thick. Do any of you guys know where I can get hold of some female connectors that will fit this motor? Philip

Surely when the wrap is epoxied, there is no way any corrosion can occur? If it does then that must point to poor coverage? Philip

Hi Earl, Hope you're well mate. I'll try to find out how old the rod is. I was worried it might have a skeleton insert which would have meant I would have to take the grip off and start again. Cheers, Phil.

I use a black permanent marker pen all the time. Incidentally, I dress the guide feet with a sewing machine powered grinder which gives me the control I've always wanted. Philip

Hi, Had a chap ask if I can fix the reel seat on his enigma rod as it loose when he tightens up the reel lock ring, (think it's the glue that has broken down. As I've not done one of these rods before, my question is can I just remove the fighting butt and pull the reel seat straight off, or does it have to be cut off due to the taper of the blank? Thanks for any help. Philip.
