Nice to know that there are others rod builders that have the same idea and are not afraid to fry different thing’s and as for drying I do it in some what the same way but I start out at 21 RPM’s let turn for about 30 min’s or just until the Epoxy starts to firm up and transfer my rod to a 4 RPM motor to finish it off. Roger I almost never use more then one coat of finish unless it is really nee

A good Epoxy job on your new rod is a must for most of us so her is a little tip for those that my need a bit of help to get the best Epoxy job on a new rod. First let me tell that there is no need to put more then one applications of Epoxy on most rods unless it is some kind of big game saltwater rod or in the 45 lb and up kind of fish. One of my best tricks is with Epoxy and and getting the pe

There is nothing wrong with sanding down your finish just to get a good look I do it on both my decritive wraps and my guides and I have never had a problem just make sure that all is dry first.

I am going to use the Microwave casting guides on a crankbait rod and the rod blank will be fiberglass so it will have the extra flex in it and I would like to do it with a spiral wrap. So the question is if make the rod with a spiral wrap will it screw up the way these Microwave guides are made to work do to second guide being wrapped on the side of the blank.

My problem Roger is that the guides were wrapped with red nylon but the trim bands are Trimar by the old Holland thread company and Holland made of trimar with NCP so I need to put CP on the red nylon and so the Holland trimar will end up getting covered with NCP. About the only thing I can do Roger is to do the Nylon with NCP first and let dry and then snug up the trim but I just don't want to s

On a Standard casting Rod I always put the hook keeper on the side so that when you lay it down on the boat deck the lure does not get all hooked up in the carpet. If I am going to build a split grip Rod do just the opposite and put the hook keeper on the bottom just because of the looks and I like it better that way.

Yes it will give you just a bit more protection on both snake skin and the sticker type of skins tand it will keep any ink from reacting with the epoxy and it will not hurt a thing so just go ahead but just let it dry real good.

Phil it was in a group of five blanks that where leaning in the corner of the room and as it was being removed it snapped in such a clean way as if it was cut off With no splintering at all. This was a Heavy fast action blank so there is no way that it should have ever broke like that in the first place without some kind of defect in the blank.

I have a Batson Rainshadow Rod blank that simply snapped about 8 to 10 inches down from the tip of the blank just about where the transfer of power would be on a Fast action blank. The break is a very clean break with no splintering at all and has never been built on. The Rod was standing up in the corner of a wall being stored so is this a defective blank or just my falt as not like the blank wa

How does the placement of the reel seat being placed higher or lower on the Rod affect the power and action of the Rod.

Stay with 6.0 only a 6.6 Rod has to much flap in it and is not nearly as accurate as a 6.0 Rod and a 6.6 or longer takes more of a perfect caster to even come close to 6.0 or shorter Rod. A 6.0 or shorter work more like Cast point and land soft no splash at all what's so ever so just forget 6.6 or longer.

The MHX 6.0 are great blanks for what you need and thay will make anybody a great caster as thay are very accurate like a hammer is to a nail and are great for getting close like under docks.
For anything more then 3/8 oz go with a Heavy action these thing are great.
