If I had to do it over again I'd make my own. You might even find some handmade ones on @#$%&.

I never heard of folding guides. Very cool.

I solved my problem by going slowly, and changing the width (size) files I used on the large and small ends of the handle. Also, constantly sliding the handle on the blank to test the fit is another good idea. My main problem was that I tried to get the reaming job done too quickly. I found my patience was the key.

Hi Dan, I had the same experience. I finally decided to grind them down and see how the rod performs. Of course, now I have to wait until next ice season.

I use that for a final coat on homemade poppers and jigs. I never thought of using it for rod building. Interesting.

I really don't see how the locking wraps add security to the guide. I've never had any trouble with single foot guides without using the locking wrap.

I shaped a handle with some sand paper and using my hands. It can be done. It must be done slowly and carefully, but it can be accomplished. I live in an apartment, too, and did this outside in the summer. I do know powered sanding of any kind in my apartment, but I've built about 20 fly and several spinning rods.

Is it customary to place tube-style tip top guides are ice rods? I have a .75mm tip on 2 of mine. It seems it would be easier.
Thanks

49. Ice rod guides
I would like to wrap 2 ice rods that have a very thin upper third of the blank. What's the best way to keep the guides on the blank to begin wrapping them? Would a touch of the glue stick you use to apply tip tops be an option? I'd like to wrap them today.
Thanks

Would someone recommend some low-price components I can outfit this ice rod blank with? It's a $16 blank and I don't want to spend $50 for the components.
I haven't built any ice rods in 10 years. maybe.
Thanks

Thanks for the responses. Lynn was correct, I couldn't remember how long I could wait between coats. This is my first rod in 3 years and I've forgotten.

Found this on the RodGeek site:
These American made rod blanks are constructed with St. Croix's highest modulus carbon fiber (SCV) and are produced in their Park Falls, WI factory. They are sent to our factory in Mexico so they can be painted to order and shipped directly to your door, just like our RODgeeks offerings. They include the best of St. Croix's engineering know-how: IPC (Integrated

I've had nothing but kind, efficient service. Just remember, this year of COVID has put just about everything in disorder. Many companies had to pare their employees to meet distancing requirements, which in turn slows production and mailing.
