Ok, makes perfect sense. You have the ideal size seat for your build in nickle silver, but it is too heavy for your liking. So instead of choosing one with the same specs in say aluminum or another media, just downsize the original to a smaller and less desirable size and fitment to acheive the weight reduction.

Has nothing to do with larger or wall thickness. I think what you are going to find if using an identical size product, in terms of weight from lighter to heavier would be
Aluminum
Titanium
Aluminum Bronze
Stainless Steel
Nickel Silver
Copper

While the pipe style will suffice, they are not designed around the AFFTMA specs for the hoods to hold the reel feet design such as the REC's and Bellingers

I do not know of a single person that always casts in a direct plain with the spine of a rod consistently. You have side arm, underhand, sideways, etc, and I can assure you that it is not in relation to the spine, no more than one always fights a fish is direct correlation to the spine.
Forum: rodboard 2 years ago
Ron Weber
Also the spine does not contribute to casting accuracy, that is strictly in control of the person casting.

Put it in your power wrapper or lathe (if you have such) and use a jewelers saw, 3 corner file or any fine tooth cutting instrument you may have.

Roger, he is not referring to the same chuck as in the picture that you posted. This is the one he is referring to .
It has no set screws, and is a pressed on pulley
Forum: rodboard 2 years ago
Ron Weber
I do not believe that driven pulley is held on with a set screw, rather it is a press fit, and very possibly in haste it was installed backwards

OP is not really talking about reaming process as much as he want to bore thru the solid end of a fighting but to enable him to use as a foregrip. At least that is my intrepretation of the queston

One just might want to also take this into consideration when trying to understand why you favorite supplier may be having difficulty in completing your order.

I would think that you would possibly have better results by calling them rather than just some speculation on what others may feel free to reply. My philosophy is when you have an issue, go to the source, not air it out on a social media page

Natural materials -- like wood, bone, horn and antler -- are beautiful, ... The only drawback of natural handles is a tendency to expand and contract (gradually) with ... Even stabilized wood can still expand and contract,.

Ron Weber
Keep in mind, the difference between being in a controlled environment or the subject to the intervention of nature. Outdoors environment should consist of UV protection, water proof, and last but certainly not least flexability. Remember all woods have a tendacy to expand and contract due to temp and environment changes.

And Roger has hit it exactly on the head. in all reality the fisherman has the control in his hands, not the mfg, builder or media

CA is way too brittle of a finish. It will as you have discovered develop cracks and fissures, leading to the induction of moisture and eventually begin discoloring as well as lifting off of the insert. It is not waterproof, nor is it UV resistant. I do well over a 1000 inserts a year, and they are all dipped in spar urethane for longevity. And yes the insert offerings do make a difference.

OK, now I understand. If a casting or spinning rod, The accuracy is totally dependind upon the rod and not the person controlling the rod. Still leaves me a bit puzzled when I throw side arm or underhand instead is directly in plane with the spine
