Marble magic is a water base. But it still needs a top coat to seal it. On a flexible grip that would be a problem. If your mom really wants Winn go for it. If she plans to pass this rod on as a keepsake to you, Or a granddaughter - grandson for them to cherish. I would use something more conventional, Here is a post you can read

If you use a good tip top with a Minima guide train, I can't see you having any problems, I personally use a lot of them, In heaver applications with no problems, My 3/4 to 1oz Jigging rod's their 3 years old now, Minima Guides look great, Fishing walleye's in the Detroit and Saint Clair river's, reeling Braid Up and Down in 35-40 feet of water probably up to 100 times or more a day with lots of

Cut a small dia rubber band tye on blank in guide location, Slip guide under band and wrap, cut rubber band off, And Finnish wrap, Lots of people use small Dental bands and even elastic thread as well, But most of us have rubber bands around the house So I just use those. Have patience, And a Shot or 2 if required. LOL

What are you using it for? Only reason I ask, Is unless your pulling fish out of thick weed bed's I feel the Med Is just to heavy for these size bait's, I built the Rainshadow revcb70m for these exact bait's. And Now I wish it had a Softer tip!! Go with what Ron suggest and I think you will be very happy!

Here's DC foot pedals, Saves a lot of farting around. Just match to your speed control Potentiometer Value such as 10K ohm to 10K. ohm This is the speed control I used it has a 10K ohm Potentiometer and works with the above foot-pedal, is the motor I used they are very Quite and very strong in torque, They are Ball Bearing on the output shaft! The Concept is good but that's about it, I threw mine away, After doing a Sample wrap and Exposing it to the weather, It will clear up Like mentioned above. Just Not my cup of Tea! And yes it's to Hard to work with. Needs more RD in my opinion.
