Buy USA Made Problem solved!! Why In the Heck people buy Chinese blanks blows my Mind. Support your own Country USA! The blank is the most important part of the rod, It's bad enough we have to buy China guides and seats, But it makes No sense to Support a country that gives us = diseases!! such as Covid, #2 most of their goods are pure Junk, #3 They steal and copy our own products and designs

Trung don't Thank Me, {Thank Tom!} I just chimed in. But yes you have the correct idea, And how I do it as well with my small 4 jaw wood lathe chuck Also keep in mind as well that 1/4" mandrel's do flex much more then 3/8" so If your using 1/4" watch how much pressure you are applying when shaping. I personally use no smaller then 3/8" mandrel's and use 3/8 bored cork rings

Looks more like a form of "Crimp" To me. I would do as Phil suggested using Thin or Med CA {A quick solution if the ferrule is not sloppy loose, is to run some Super glue down into the ferrule}

The paint on the Immortal blanks make's them Look Cheap! I remove it from almost all my builds due to customer requests, Most all Want Carbon! Not paint. {Scotch Brite pads} in 3 grades start with corse, Med, then the green one it comes right off and is very thin paint. You will get that Micro buffed finish which reduces rod weight even further, while providing a super smooth semi-gloss finis

Our how china's Bangood can ship a package, China Post for $2, Then hand it off to usps, And you receive it in 9 days??? Which is exactly what my son experienced 2 weeks ago for some computer parts. And yes it was shipped in China, Not a usa vendor. It may be time for UPS - Fedex to look at how that's done.

X2 on the piano wire, Get a few diameters and pick what tension you like best! It's cheap. Had to do the same thing as well on my son's wrapper. And you will not have a problem again. CRB needs to address this issue and modify that to wire or maybe carbon fiber.

Best is to wrap some samples and view your results. If you really want your wraps to Pop, Use CP. If your after a more subdue look, No color preserver.

The Question {You} have to ask yourself, Is, Are you just going to use it for Rod grips and rod building only? Or are you going to get into Med size and up, wood turning as well? Such as Bowls, vase's, Art pieces, And whatnot?? If just rod-building you don't need a lot of lathe, Any of the small Chinese ones will work well. I do like variable speed. And a Bed extension for the little extra ro

quote {But I check the Mudhole video and they turned handles on the "RBS handle turning kit" which the mandrel is just resting on a simple stand. (I think the stand from ALPS is even better with wheels.....) Thoughts?} Yep a grip or 2, It's 100% doable, Keep your speeds down until you find a sweet spot take your time. However, I would not want to do a dozen of them, Like this, You

So what Changed?? other then Cheaper materials it appears? I don't see anything News worthy. You can Scrap the paint for sure on the Immortal line-up as others have said!! I'm tired of taking it off for my customers. If I wanted paint I would order a blank from Rod-Geeks. Or airbrush one myself in a Custom Color! that my customer wants. What about walleye guys, I hear over and over again when

createx paints wicked, Make sure you use the Base Coat sealer first, I your case white. I have also tinted my base coat sealer, With a few drops of the color as well, Just to get true color that i was looking for. You end up using less topcoats. Take your time a play around a bit first. Cheers Jaa

They work great for me, I also used them in a spiral wrap on a casting rod for a Fellow and he's Super happy with the performance. And when I have time, I will soon be building one for his buddy, The only limitation, I can see would be icing of the basket guide in cold freezing temps. But neither fish in those conditions.
