Hi Mark,
You are correct, according to Angler's Resource Fuji is discontinuing the Titanium / Alconite combination. They still have ample stock however so we will continue to offer it until their inventory is depleted. As for the Arowana tops, I spoke to AR late last week and confirmed they were available we should have them up on the site in the next day or so, I meant to pass this info on

Tom,
I agree with that, which is why those are all included as facet options to help isolate products that meet the criteria being searched. For instance, the SCIV St. Croix page referenced earlier has over 100 products in it when first clicked. By choosing the Facet "Length" then selecting "7'" for instance only 10 blanks are displayed (http://www.mudhole.com/brands/r-s/s

Jason,
You can search by brands here: . Brand is also a facet available to filter results, we are working on adding a "Series" facet which will help in instances such as this when looking for a particular line of blanks or products.

Bill,
The samples we worked with here at the shop were cleared with a few different styles of 2 part finishes as well as the U40 permagloss. We did not have any adverse reactions.

Hi Guys,
The first shipment literally flew off the shelves. We have a partial shipment of a few b/o shapes due in by Friday 11/6 and the remainder due at our warehouse due in by the 11/18. Ken, these are "unfinished" but have been sealed and are fully useable without any additional coating if desired. Keep an eye out for email stock updates in the coming weeks.

We offer 5ML luer lock syringes with a large gauge needle. You can use the syringe/needle combo to "inject epoxy back under the EVA to secure it to the rod again. Rods flex their entire working life, glue gets brittle over time and they come loose it happens sometimes...nothing you did wrong per se. Good Luck!

Hi Mattias,
We will continue our efforts to reduce our cost to the consumer, however International rates for the time being will remain unchanged. That is not to say we will not continue our efforts to improve our international rates in the future, it will however likely be more difficult to implement significant changes given the high cost of international shipments. I hope you can understand

John,
I introduce a small amount of color preserver (flexcoat or chromaseal), I am not a chemist so I cant explain the reaction but I assume the acrylic in the CP reacts with the epoxy making it very "stringy" and it will hold the colors in more consistent patterns. I would advise you test the amounts of CP you use as too much will turn the epoxy into an unusable glob of goo. Good lu

Jerry,
Tape the ends for sure, a diamond masonry blade on a chop saw works great as it wont chip the ends. Let the blade do the work if you try to force it you will crush the tube.

Adam,
They include that on all of their grips, it will fit in certain reel seats however on smaller ones I simply remove the tenon with a razor blade.

A car is only as good as its driver...a rod is only as good as the fisherman. How many Jetta's do you see on the road vs. 911's? Plus...you know what they say about guys that drive Porsche's...LOL.

The majority of guide frames on the market are pre-ground, additional grinding will only make your wrapping job easier, making the guide foot too sharp is one of the reason we stress not over grinding in our classes. Realistically you should only have to take material off of the top of the foot to "smooth" the transition from the blank to guide foot, if you are making them that sharp y

Dan,
Personally I would recommend leaving enough space to include a ferrule wrap. When you do wrap it make sure the tip section is seated fully in the ferrule. I recommend doing ferrule wraps on all multi-piece blanks.

The Aluminum oxide / Concept "O" ring actually originally was a step below the Hardloy however it has improved over the years thus making the Hardloy unnecessary. Im sure Jim Ising will chime in here shortly but it is indeed true, the Hardloy line of guides is being phased out. Anglers Resources is already out of or low on numerous sizes and Mud Hole has therefore begun to closeout / i

David,
It is likely a proprietary reelseat. Many rod manufacturers have very unique grips and reel seats that used exclusively on their rods, and unfortunately are not available to the custom market.

Orvis discontinued the Helios line last year. They continued to produce the blanks until the end of 2012, I have been able to get a few that remained in stock from them. If you would like I can contact them and find out if one can be built. Contact me directly: brook@mudhole.com if there is anything else y

Another option is to split the tube of a smaller top and then wrap up the pieces to fasten them to the blank. Not optimal but it is effective.

Rick,
Best bet would be to fashion a picture. The Gun smoke frames will be Fuji Silicon Carbide rings, the NSG is a standard casting frame which is now discontinued but was used commonly as a stripper guide for fly rods. The BNLG should be a Hardloy ring size 10 with a black frame and should be the same frame style as the NSG, the same applies for the BNL12 assuming it is a BNLG12. Hope this
