I like the look it's ok. The blank I have is has had the cello removed ,I have built some that they leave it on like a Ugly stick and don't like that look. This blank is also been buffed and coated with clear but the ridges are still a pain to wrap, so thin coat of epoxy where my wraps went took care of that.

I just was messing with one as well and while this is a pain in neck I layed out where the wraps are going and put a thin coat of finish on the blank in those areas. It smoothed it out so wrapping was easy. Not the best way but it worked for me!!

You might be able to get Seeker to do one built on their E-glass surf series. They might sub the E-glass for S-glass. They make many very long 1pc and 2pc surf rods.

We see the same thing on so called " factory Custom" rods. It seems to keep cost down corners are cut and shody work is done. The thing is people will pay big bucks and have no problem with that. Half either ignore or don't know what they are holding in their hands. You really can't blame the makers as it seems people are willing to part with the $!!!

Anglers Resource has really stepped it up for sure and for that I thank you guy's for doing it. Lots of info and tools that are not only for the builder but can help your customer understand things that are new or just basic understanding of what is what. So good stuff and keep it up and thanks again!!

Just to answer you question Boghy, The LDB IMO is the strongest single foot guide out there. i think we get to hung up thinking we NEED to use certain guides for certain setups. I think and was just talking about this today with someone a if Fuji did a LDB #8, this in conjuction with double foot KR guides would make an out standing layout. The 6 LDB work great but.. Try and convince surf guys of

For light use and light line the KR as it is right now is fine. I'm waiting for the KW-H to arrive to really put it to the test on a 10'6" and 9' blank rated 1-4, That IMO will the true test! I know the concept works as far as casting is concerned but I just think the guides are a tad light for med weight plugging blanks.. The KR is killer on freshwater/ Salmon type blanks that for sure!!

when doing one rod on a single dryer I stick with the 18rpm but I have a multi drum dryer that uses a 10rpm gear motor that with pulley sizing I have over sped to about 30rpm and a heavy duty speed control switch to slow to the speed I want. The reason is with small diameter rods I can run it faster (about 20rpm) and with larger rods run slower (about 12 rpm) to avoid sling. I think it will depen

KR concept just like New Guide Concept is only for spinning rods/ layouts. Spiral wrapped rods are casting or conventional layouts. so... NO!!

Lost time.. Pretty much every night! Building handles one night and wrapping guide the next rod after rod after rod. Next thing it's 11:30 and I have 5 hours till I need to wake up for another go!! I learned to take breaks for a 1/2 hour or so just so I don't lose my mind!!

The Fuji K is surprisingly very nice and I have had no problems with these and I'm using these on so many builds now that My collection of SV and MNs is getting dusty!!

I can give you two that I know for sure. One is Scott fly rods have a newer line of all glass that are impressive and Talon graphite still make IM-6plus fly rods that are a moderate action. I'm sure there are others!! I'm surprised that other company's have not jumped into at least a small offereing of glass fly. There seems to be a call for them!!

With Only K's and not using the KR guides it makes it kind of tough. It's best to have a 20 or 16 that is as high as a KW 30. If you use only the KW in a 20 or 16 you won't get the height. Me and another builder are working on a KR setup or rapid choke for surf rods so we are having issues with these certain things.

You would be fine with just BKWAG's. Ti is nice and I do prefer it. I will suggest if you are going down to 6's go with LDBs they come in Alconite black or Ti with Sic. Great little guide I use on alot of my surf rods for years! The layout sounds good to me and I will add you need to keep in mind that depending on the tip size you might not find a small ring large tube size tip top so that might

78. New rod company
I don't think this was discussed here or not but it seems that Gary Loomis and NFC are starting a rod building company called Edge Rods. Seeme the competition is getting stiff!! Intresting stuff to say the least, though it appears no models are available yet I would imagine they are made on any NFC blank!!

The weighted tennis balls were very non areodynamic. They seems to die very quickly! If we had used a 3oz lead or metal lure we would have seen much farther distances. This was not about distance though. I did observe the line leaving the reels up close on a bunch of casts and everyone was coiling tight! Now we need to do rod breaking and see which setup breaks first.. just not on my rods!!

I would worry about the balls and CCSing if we were using a casting machine but no one person will cast the same so the variable in materials is meaningless. Also the variables in the blanks are going to be there no matter what and I think are so small that it has no bearing on the outcome!!

I can tell you this, The balls will be either green or white and weigh between 56 and 59.4 grams. Penn might be the brand of ball though Wilson can make a pretty mean ball as well!

Years ago I did a custom drum set for guy and it was black with Flouro pink flames. Not sure how he stored it but the one side of the kit the flames faded away to an almost white. Also painted a Mercury Capri 5.0 a hot pink it took two years but it was almost all white, The owner knew this would happen!! The thing is these paints were auto paints and Clear coat used to give them the gloss. so in

Pinks and fluorescent colors will turn white. This is why I would never paint a blank Pink or any fluoresent color it's nothing but setting yourself up for trouble. About the only thing Mudhole or who ever can do is replace the blank but.. It will fade to white again!! Nature of the beast!!

Look at the St Croix Legend series or Century's Sling shot series. Both are fast action and are great for slinging metal. Not sure if he wants something to go to 4oz but hey.. he's the customer!!

Scott I have been saying this for years. You and I both do the same surf layouts with the LDB's. I have been using 9 tube 8 rings with some of mine but with the 10 size tip your stuck with a 10 rings. I said something to Donnie and Jim from Anglers at High Point about it. Small ring big tube tip tops. Not a hard concept to figure out. You would think the company that came up with a concept that u

Why Custom builders would have an issue with this is beyond me! Choke the line down asap and lighten the tip and or whole rod! We builders shouldn't have a issue.. the fisherman are the ones we need to convince!! The KR looks very promising even on longer type rods!

I look at Mag bass as a cross over from Bass to light saltwater. In fact I use a few Mag bass for light salt water as they sometimes are more powerful then light salt water. Of course it depends on the manufactuer!
