Century has a 1145 which is 9'6" and is a fast action, CTS has CB901 in a 1pc and 2 pc and are fast action and Fiber Star Composites has a 1086-2 moderate fast and a 1086, 1087 1pc which are fast moderate actions. I have not tried the new Lamiglas Infinity in a 9' yet but the old SSU 1081L and M were great all around 9' blanks. The GSB 108L is another but is moderate at best.. The GSB 1081M

Older guys would know but I think rod varnish was used. I think Guberod made this stuff as many others I'm sure did. I would fix that rod and use it if it was me!!

The Anglers workshop blanks are the closest you will get to that PB IGF blank you have and are USA made. Great people to deal with as well.

If a ferrule is going to break or crack/split nothing you wrap around it will stop that. The carbon/ glass/ resin used in a ferrule is stronger then the thread and epoxy you can apply so if it breaks the thread will do nothing! The way ferrules are made today you don't need to reinforce them BUT I always use a wrap on a ferrule as protection when the rod is a part and I think it's just good pract

I have experimented with thinning and it's a waste of time and you get mixed results. I have found for the best results 50/50 Afcote and threadmaster first coat and 20/80 afcote/threadmaster give me the best results. I like Afcote for it's bubble release abilty and threadmaster for it's harder finish. Both have the longest "stay clear" results having tested them against others. They all

Glad i read your last post but I have done it on one rod for myself and it works pretty good. I won't say it casted farther and I'm not sure about using mono as I use 50# braid on a Penn 525mag!

The Fuji Concept guides have a recessed ring compared to the "regular" Fuji guides. There are many companies making good guides but IMO Fuji are second to none!!

We are Talking Billy Vivona?? Last I spoke to him all was going well and he's making progress. Things have gone pretty quick and he will be back in action soon. He'll chime in I'm sure!

Others will have more experiance with these but I have found them to be to fast in action for my liking and the ferrules seem very large/long. I have cast a few on the beach but they were not mine and don't remember what model #. I know many do like them and I would say they will throw the weights your looking to.

I have seen the CPW in action at many outwrappers shops and IMO for the money they are very nice units. I had a Pacbay when I started out and it worked but wish I would have just bought a Renzetti or CPW from the get go. Not sure about the CPW but at least with a Renzetti if you go to sell it you won't lose your butt on it. I would think the CPW would hold value as well!!

intresting question since this has been talked about quite a bit recently. Some companies just turn a bunch fisherman into "Prostaff" without really knowing who they are. Problems can come of this as you can imagine! I'm in a small market fishing rod wise right now and I have one guy who is my prostaff. I pay him with rods like the others have said and he does get to test prototypes so

For the finish that stays clearer longer. I would have to say Threadmaster, Afcote and Procote. I do the Billy V mix mostly. which is Afcote and Threadmaster mix. Billy has been using Procote/Threadmaster now and has been happy but I still like my Afcote/threadmaster mix. You can mix 50% or 25% or 75%. I like to mix 50/50 first coat then 25/75 Threadmaster being the 75%.

I have been and it is a hugh pia.. I'm way to busy to mess with it anymore! I want to just use the large spools since I only use three colors mostly and it's ramping to large production. I have a buddy who is a machinist and
