I tried to get a candy apple effect guide wrap last night with silver metallic gudebrod A as the under wrap and pro wrap neon orange nylon size D as
the over wrap. I coated with epoxy but the top thread did not turn "transparent" thus I did not achieve my effect. I followed the advice from previous
posts utilizing the search function. Could the problem be that the Pro wrap doesn't tur

Anyone built on this blank. Want to throw 4, 5, 6 oz weights on this rod. It is rated 2-6 but want to know if the 6oz would be overloading it or close to overloading it.
Would be used for chunking with small mullet chunks on 12-14 test with 30-40 shock leader. Thoughts.

95. surf rocket 1502
I am building a 1502 surf rocket, conventional style, reel seat center 29 inches from butt. I spaced it out using fuji bmnag guides. I got a total of 10 going 25, 20, 16, then 12's. It casted decently but being new to conventional surf casting I can't get a real feel since I am just learning the technique.
I was wondering if I can go with less guides, if the number I have will hurt anything if I

Need a recommendation for a top-water, for rico's, 1/4 oz. only. Will be using braid with a mono leader (14 pound test). Needs to have backbone to pull fish out of weeds but a soft enough tip
to be able to lauch a 1/4 rico.
Thanks,

I guide for these Monster Catfish and the best rod we have found to catch these 40-60lb blues is the Ugly Stick Mh Catfish series rod. For its price you will not be able to duplicate it with another blank. There are other blanks out there but they cost more than a complete rod. This is a tough area to make a sell in my opinion.
I haven't tried either of those blanks so I can't help in that area.

99. surf rod
Looking for people's preferences for surf rods 11ft to 12 and a half feet for throwing 8-10 ounces plus bait. Set-up would be conventional style and I am 6 ft 1 inch 230 pounds, young, and already throw a 1502 rainshadow set up spinning style. Looking to get a little more distance than this rod gives me. Would a conventional set up on this blank give me more distance??? What are your preferences

I am in the process of building a surf rod for throwing 2-3 oz of metal for blues and rockfish. The rod is a st.croix 10 ft 3/4-4oz rod blank and the reel will either be a libra 3500, stradic 4000, or stradic 5000. I have a couple of questions:
1) can I get by with a 30mm (byag) for my first guide
2) can I use single foot guides instead of double foots
3) for running guides can I use the bl

101. Re: Batson Labels
I layed down a layer of epoxy first let it cure, trimmed the edges of the label so that they were rounded not square,
peeled the sticker away from the film only a little bit, put the edge of the sticker over the dried epoxy area,
and used a small artist brush handle to smooth the decal/label over the area to ber applied. So
far no problems with edges being visable, bubbles present, or finger

103. surf rod
I am building a 1502 rainshadow for surf casting as a spinning set up for large drum. I will be using 20lb running line with a 40-65 pound shock leader. My question is will the leader knot slip through size 12 rings and top or do I need to go to size 16's? I have read volume 7 issue #1 on this subject but wanted to know if anyone has tried 12's.
Thanks,

104. trimming rod butt
How much "power" would be lost trimming three inches from the butt on these blanks:
1) 5s60mf 6-12lb, 3/16-5/8
2) 5c60mf, 10-17lb, 1/4-3/4oz
