There is a cost for the information you are wanting! The measuring, web site design and maintenance are not done without costs. As a long time (once a beginner) I have never used the MHX data, nor had a reasonable expectation that it would be supplied. NFC is a reasonably recent mfg, with growing issues, and to expect them to offer what one established retailer supply's is questionable.

When the gap is not visible, you do not need to do do any further shimming. Epoxy like rod bond will adequately fill it and make a good bond.

Yeah they did what we wanted, then our horizons grew broader. I back packed in the high Sierras in 1970's with a Wright McGill 4pc glass dual purpose (fly/spin) and caught loads of Golden Trout with both methods.

I wait until the epoxy will no longer fingerprint (tested in epoxy remains). I have found this to give very strong adhesion and never had a problem with this process. As epoxy cures, it is not a "drying" issue.

It is absorbed into the thread, but not into the nylon fibers that make up the thread. Nylon is not like organic fibers that may absorb fluids.

194. Re: Wrap strength
I have seen burst thread wrap, however only on very old saltwater rods that were not taken care off, the wrap finish in theses cases was varnish. I have also had on guide pull out of the wrap on a fly rod I built where I forgot the Forhan lock. The gude was snagged on brush along a creek. My boo boo.

195. Re: Wrap strength
I think this thread got off on the wrong foot! I never saw anyone advocate thread wrap only. The premise is that the thread provides "most" of the wrap strength or is the "primary" strength in a wrap.
If one does not believe this, test it for your self. Put on guide on with thread only and one with epoxy only, then try to pull each off the blank, you will see where the str

The blanks may have some value if you can find a Fenwick aficionado. Reel seats will depending upon the brands.

I have built numerous fly rods with cut-out style reel seats, and assemble them just as Tom K suggests, never had an issue, even after hard continuous use.

All the major brands of wrap epoxy are good! In using them many of us find characteristics in one that we prefer. Only time and usage will detrmine that for you.

201. Re: CP or no?
The decision to use CP, has very little to do with strength. It has the biggest impact on retaining thread color. With CP you get almost the same color as the bare thread on the spool. Without CP, the thread becomes more translucent, darkening the thread color and in the case of light colored thread, allowing a dark blank to have an influence.
Most of us that do not use CP, prefer the more mut

In my opinion both of those Sage models are FRAGILE ! In order to obtain the casting performance they have lessoned the durability. However incorrect use of a rod is the biggest cause of failure, which may be the cases here..

It is likely Amine Blush, caused by humidity. Storing in a moist or humid environment can be the cause. If the surface feels waxy or oily a damp cloth may clean it off, if not add a little soap. If not on the surface a hair dryer or warm sunlight often clears it up.
