Got a repair coming in soon on a St. Croix MIS76HF rod. The guides are Batson 316. Anyone know what thread color will match the factory?

I've also found that wrapping the decal around a dowel rod or a sharpie pen (or something round) for a week or so prior to application will "train" the decal that it is going to go on a circular surface. Put a few rubber bands around it to hold it in place. Seems to help some....but not always.

Make sure you don't exceed six inches from middle of reel seat to butt if pursuing IGFA records. Also...here is a good article on the subject.

I like to fish and be involved with anything fishing. I like to tinker, and I like to build things. Unfortunately, I'm sorta landlocked, and needed to stay attached to my passion. Rod building and reel repair seemed like a natural fit.

Care to explain a poor casting technique? Aren't Fuji KWAG supposed to shed wind knots?

Ok...so I've built a few rods here and there and have never had a "complaint" about wind knots. Sent two identical rods to a customer....and he LOVES them....but says that he is getting wind knots. Changing reels from a Penn Conquer 4000 to a 6000 and he still gets them. He is using Suffix 832 in 20lb test. Blank = 7'6" L904 2 piece rated for 10-20lb test and 3/8oz - 1 5/8

make sure the rod is level. If it isn't, the rod will try to unscrew fom the chuck and take the rubber ends with it. When this happens on mine,I stop and re-level everything and it usually fixes itself.

Bill the ones Mudhole (as far as I can see) are straight with a tapered end where the butt wrap/winding check would go. I'm looking for the ones that start big at the reel seat, then gradually taper narrower towards the butt wrap or winding check.
