Thanks for the info Tom. Would you by chance know if these were made on the earlier shxi blanks or shx? I think that I may have found a suitable replacement from lamiglass. Thanks, Tom

Fred, I built a similar rod for a friend of mine that picked up Chief finally. I took the tie clasp that they wear and inlaid it into the handle as well as doing a small weave for him. I have built on the CTS and it is a superb blank, I think yhat he would be very satisfied with it. Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

Happy Independance Day Gents, I need to replace a blank that I broke today. It was a factory Falcon Gunsmoke, it was a 6MF. Yes, it was of my stupidity that I broke it!! The line specs were something like 8-14 lb but I dont have it here at work with me so I am no exactly sure. I believe it was rated at 1/4-5/8 oz too. Do any of you know what blank these were made on and if there are still availa

Al, funny you should post about milfoil and MN. That is one of the prime areas that I use these rods for. I don't get home too often on leave but I do love that style of fishing. Most of what I have been doing out here in Cali has either been deep football heads, drop shotting (YUCK) or pitching here on my local river (canal for irrigation). Of course there are always lots of Senko's thrown a

Good evening to you all and morning to those on the East Coast. I put up a post about a year and a half ago asking about a particular skipping rod but didn't get much in return. I have searched the archives and not come up with much there either. I am looking for a skipping rod (spinning) to use around docs. I am not set on line choice as of yet nor a particular blank company. I fish from a bass

Jeffery, I have been successful in boiling some handles off. I would only submerse the part that you want to come off as the glue may soften in a place you don't want it to. I would also be careful in "twisting" off the seat as the shear forces my cause the blank to delaminate. Hope that this helps you out a bit. Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

Happy Memorial Day everyone, Has anyone out there had any experience with making a short (4'6") 1 piece ul into a 2pc?? The customer wants it for a pack rod for TINY streams. I am thinking it should not be too involved but I need some help for this one. I have a SCII and an shII that I can try this on. Yes, I am aware that both are VERY different from one another other than overall length

1426. thread
Hello everyone, I have been wondering about some thread options. I have yet to use the Maderia thread but would like to do so in the near future. I do however have some thread that is labeled 00 nylon. I got this from a very small place in Wilmot, Wisconsin formerly of the name Sonnies (I am a relative and that is how I got it). I know that they have sold off all of their equiptment but I am won

Good morning fella's I would like to know if any of you have experience with Lamiglas's IMC or IMS781. It has the specs of a blank that a person would like for me to build but I have never had any dealings with the Lamiglas stuff. They are wanting it as a spinning rod that will do light stuff up to hula grubs on 10-12lb test and also Senko's. If you have any other suggestions I am open to them a

I will send out another vote for Yellow Rocket Fuel, if you are not going to use that one. I would give corrosion x a shot. I have used it with good results just as a test. Does not seem to have the need to be reapplied as often.. Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

I would think that depending on what applications he was going to be using the rods for he might be able to get away with the LSG's down to the 3.5's... I have seen a few of our sponsors that are carrying them. I am not too sure if the 3.5's would be heavier than the Titaniums... don't have any in hand to play with at the current moment. May just be another option to look at. Tom Kaufmann

Steve Have you been able to find any other material for the rigns other than SIC? Please keep us posted on the results of the two that you are planning on building. I am VERY interested to see how they come out for you. Do you have any pictures posted? Thanks for the input Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

WOW, size 2?? those little buggers must be really tiny. I normally don't have to worry about any type of knots since I mostly use flourocarbon or copoly. Do they make tips that small too? Billy, I hope that the gentleman that you saw with them does chime in since I think that it would be pretty cool to use those. I am looking at using some of the MATAGI or Andrews stuff on these upcoming rods

Good Afternoon Gents, I have yet another question for ya'll. I have been looking at the lsg35j's and have been thinking. Why do we continue to use 6's when we have the smaller guides?? I know that the smallest framed tops that we have are 6's from what I have seen. Any thoughts that you have would be GREATLY appreciated. I will be using these on bass rods and ultra-lights as well. Thanks, To

I taped on the guides and it looked pretty good to me. Yes, I am using that exact article. I was just wanting to make sure that I didn't hose it up before I wrap it. I was concerned that with having spacing of 6" between the 3rd and 4th I was doing something wrong. thanks again Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

Good Evening Gentlemen, I have a question for you all to ponder for quick minute if you have the time. I have a Shikari S501 that I am working on. I have a 4" rear grip, with a 4" fuji deluxe 16mm reelseat on it with a single ring for the foregrip.(I don't mind the small reelseats) I am using a Symetre 750 for the reel on this one and have set it up with the concept spacing.
