I have a blank in the rack that Ive lost the label that goes with it.
It still have the sticker on the butt of the rod with the number 857. I know this is the Northfork in house label, I was wondering if someone may know which blank this is. (I suspect it is an MB7108)
Thanks

Frog rod? Yes, heavy jigs? Yes! Light to medium flipping in heavy cover?yep, large worms? Yep, big wobblehead? Yep. It’s a very versatile rod, I use for for everything mentioned to include large sweet beavers, brush hogs, and a ton of other stuff. I never launch the boat without one. IMO any application for a large or heavy bottom dragging technique it’s what you are looking for. It’s very light

Tucker, while I don’t have experience with the blank you listed, I do have a recommendation for you. I have built numerous SJ720’s from MHX specifically for this purpose. While I was stationed on the East coast the guys over there would float a river firing beetle spins and road runners into and around the brush for shell crackers and crappie just like the bass guys do with spinnerbaits for large

Lynn, if your not opposed to a smaller guidetrain, try an RV6, followed by a single 5 then 4.0s to the tip or 3.5’s. I have three HM’ MB 709’s set up like this and they are great.

What are your options regarding a match to the St Croix legend glass 72hm casting rod. I was thinking the Rodgeeks S Glass 79hm cut down would fit the bill.
Let me know what ya think.
Thanks

Aleks,
I just weighed my sj725. It came in at 3.69 with longer carbon real seat grips and rear grips along with double nut MVT seat and using size 4 titanium sic’s as runners.
Skeletonize an ECSM and cut down its barrel, drop the RV6 in favor of a single foot 6, and use 3mm over the 4’s (titanium of course) as well as use a shorter 2.5 “ real seat rear grip and this will easily get VERY close

I will weigh my pb731’s. They will be heavy as they have full-size carbon grips and MVT seats. I have extra 731’s and may just throw one together to see how light it will go.

The blank is unquestionably a 5c70mf-b. I can send pics of blank prior to build. I was able to find a pic of seat and rear grip also.

I used an ECS that was skeletonized, 1.35” carbon grip rear grip, titanium sic guides. Like I said it was on a cheapo scale so it may not have been ultra accurate. My fishing partner has these rods. I can try to get one and post pics of weight if needed. There is no label, no trim bands, absolute minimal thread wraps and the thinnest coat of epoxy I could use to get adequate coverage.

You can definitely break under the 3 ounce mark. I’ve done several that were 2.79-2.92 on my cheapo scale.

Russell, without question the 725 is more powerful than the 736

Alex or Tom, can we possibly add a block button so an individual viewer doesn’t have to see certain posts or authors of their choosing? Am tired of the same redundant waste of bandwidth, garbage from the same individual on a continuous basis.

Kent, I build 99.8% micro bass rods. Even in micros the difference is substantial IMO. A titanium framed vs stainless butt guide ( especially if you are using Kw’s, IMO kw’s are TANKS) will be almost 1/2 the weight! Many say the difference is negligible, however; many of those people have not weighed their guides to see the real world difference. If you are building on an HM blank allow it to be

You don’t NEED Titanium frames but they will make a noticeable difference in the feel of the rod. I have rods built exactly the same except for guidetrain and the difference substantial IMO. You could always order a set of each, placing them in the same positions and see firsthand what I am talking about . The unused set could then be utilized for another project or returned to seller for a refun

Lynn,
Lews is usually pretty good about sending replacement guides, I will say since their sale to Rather Outdoors the customer support has TANKED!

If they are current production rods a phone call to the manufacturer will get you what you need. If older rods, than you can simply match visually
