Herb, I have those guides currently and their # 4 has a significantly larger opening than my ringed #3’s. Are these not the same guides they used on the Loomis NRX? I have repaired quite a few of the NRX that had broken guides but that was due to user error.
Thanks
Tom

Nothing to be concerned with, unless you are using braid to flouro and you don’t like the way the line passes through them with the knot. I have numerous rods built with #3’s (non REC) as runners (I only use straight flouro or straight braid) and have zero issues

David you should give a popping rod a try for square bills. They are absolutely fantastic!

Matt, just as Spencer has stated the 705 is nowhere near the same blank as the Loomis MB843, significantly less powerful.

Give Gen IV a shot. You will not be dissatisfied. Is made by the man who brought Threadmaster to market

Matt the MVT is extremely comfortable and just like David I’ve never taken notice of the nut. I have them on over 50 builds and have never had a complaint

Thank you David, I have used the MVT since they were released. They are a great seat, although IMO they could stand to go on a diet

39. Re: C602
I am planning on building mine as a bait casting Shakey head rod. Will use 12lb Tatsu ( or at least that is the plan)

Has anyone gotten their hands on the C602 Northfork blanks? If you have what are your impressions?
Thanks

Phil
Explain to me EXACTLY what makes a blank “accurate”. Is it in the layup, the resin, temp at which cured, overlap of material while on mandrel. How do YOU measure this “accuracy” of a blank, since none of the manufacturers will do it for you. I guess they are being lazy by not racing to your every whim of which you complain about. How can a component such as a reelseat affect accuracy? Wher

Phil ,
So let me get this straight, what you are saying is the only thing that is important to rod builders and fishermen is feet and inches??? Seems as though something isn’t measuring up

Thomas Kaufmann
Phil for the love of God why don’t you do these tests you continuously ramble on about! Quit whining, get off your south side and start doing some work!

Phil you are wrong on every account. When you “spin cast” you are using a reel with a push button and a closed face, you are confusing this technique with fishing a spinning rod.
I would figure someone who seems to possess such great knowledge would know the difference

Mr Cunningham, you designed some wonderful products! The p7000 were the absolute best drop shot drops, not to mention the 764 flipping blanks!!( my all time favorite), your 0 power spinning rods are also some of my favorites as well and of course the PM 703 and 704 were awesome!

Make sure they are not seconds. Once they closed the doors the market was FLOODED with seconds….. with that being said if they are legit first runs blanks I wouldn’t hesitate one bit, especially if there are any SHX in the mix.

Sam, it is very rare that I will recommend a MHX but their MB874 is a good one for frogs

Dee I was referring to the offer for the free carbon fiber casting reel seat the asked if you wanted gloss or matte

I believe you have to enter a specific code for each item in the note section on your order. They offered the reelseat deal the day after I ordered and I received a message back asking which color I was wanting. I clarified which seats I would like but have yet to receive them.
I have received the blanks, no reel seats, have tried via Messanger and left voicemail as well.

Don’t overlook Batson as well as Sea guide. Both have very solid options

I think the K series has a place but for me they are FAR to heavy as you have pointed out. It is always nice to see people doing real world test such as these without needing other’s opinions. Great job keep it up!!

Aleks, any plans for a blank in the 12-20 or 12-25lb range out of this material? I will give one of these a shot regardless.

I only cut from the butt end so my method is probably a touch more crude than others. I mark the area I want to cut wrap 2-3 turns of 1.5” masking tape over that area and cut on my 10” Ryobi chop saw. Go slowly and a fine tooth blade shows no signs of splintering. Have been doing it like this for a couple decades with great results.
