Thanks guy for your support, this is a great forum!
for Brandon: Yes i use a 120V system, thank you for your electrical explanation.
for Roger: My rod wrapper has a couple of pulley to reduce the speed, with rheostat I want have better control of it.

I built an handmade rod wrapper (I have used a motor from Merrick Tackle), it works well but it is a bit fast ! To reduce the speed I bought a rheostat switch (spare part from American tackle) to install that between the motor and the pedal. Now my rheostat come with only two wire and I don't know how to install that. Does anyone help me? Is it possible share a schematics diagram ?
Thanks in adv

In my rodbuilding carrier, started in 1999, now is arrived the time because I build a spigot insert from one piece fly/spinning/casting blank. I want to undertake in this practice and improve my tecnique to do that, because often I have difficult to find two pieces blank from all American brand blanks catolog (contrary to America in Italy a lot of people ask for two pieces rod) and another reason

Phil, I understand your point of view and all your considerations about fly rod balancing, therefore to build my fly rod I need to choose all the necessary material ( blank, reel seat, grip, guides etc) in relationship to the kind of rod I want build, assembling it and that's all. is it right ?
In other words I dont' balance the rod, because there are too many variables. Is this the right way to
Forum: rodboard 14 years ago

All of your answer has an interesting point of view. My point of view is close to Terry's thought, better the balance less fatigued has the wrist during the casting (maybe because I come from spinning practice), but how can I do to balance the rod if all weight (reel), is at the end of my rod? so, in fly rod the reel is positioned on the blank's butt and to compensate for balance where I put the

I'm ready to build my first fly rod. I read all what the books explain about its building (guide spacing, size, numbers, placement etc.) the thing not clear is its balancing. Doing a comparison with spinning and casting rod, where I can balancing the rod in relationship of reel placement, in fly rod how can I proceed?
Thanks in advance

Does anyone know how made (manufacturer) the fishing rod blanks for PB ?
Forum: rodboard 14 years ago

To make my decals I use, with very good success, Laser or Inkjet water slide decal paper bought from MerrickTackle (I don't know the manufacturer's name, I asked to MerrickTackle but without success). In my last decals I tryed to use another kind of Laser and Inkjet water slide paper from Papilio manufacturer. The results was very poor, the paper and its support is very heavy thickness (my Xerox

OK, but if I want use an epoxy finish, is it possible use it on top the PG ?

On my last spinning rod, I used a Perma Gloss finish. Maybe I applied too may coats (#8) and the results is a bad finish (there's some leveling problems). Can I smooth with scotch brite and then apply again a coat of PG or flex coat lite formula rod finish?
Thanks
