I thought someone has used Sniper Skin and can give me some insight on the product I guess not. Do a search on the internet under Sniper Skin you will come up with few videos. I find the product very interesting and a very colorful option to the shrink wrap that is on market now.

I think you can have the best of both worlds. I'm for decorative wraps and bling. I did my first cross wrap maybe sixty years ago and never looked back. I feel a rod must perform correctly. I also believe a rod should have some bling to say I'm custom. There is no better way to say that than with cross wrap or weave or custom grips. There's nothing more rewarding to me than to hear a customer s

Darwin I wrote a couple of articles in Rodmaker magazine that might be of interest to you. The first one is volume 21 issue 5 on how to use a pie shaped cork cutting jig to give you a barber pole effect. There is also an article on how to make an eva cutting jig. The second article is in volume 22, issue 6 - modifying and using a diamond jig for cork and eva. I hope that this will help you.

The best way to cut eva is with the Marchisella eva cutting tool. This tool can slice eva as thin as 1/32".The tool is very accurate and safe to use . There is an article in Rodmaker magazine volume 21 issue 5 will give you a better idea on how to make this tool. This tool is also capable of cutting cork the same way.

I drove 12 hours; worth every mile.I met some old friends and made some new ones. I even parted with some cash. I also talked a lot to other builders, which is great. Went to a couple of seminars, and speaking about seminars, when I went passed Billy's seminar, he called me out to attendees as' there goes Bill Marchisella- he's famous'.Just because I wrote a few articles on eva does not make me

Just arrived at the hotel- a 759 mile ride from Florida. I saw Tom and Billy at the M C Benton Convention Center. They told me where to get some good barbeque. I plan on seeing some old friends and making some new ones. I'm also going to take advantage of some of the deals. For those of you who couldn't make it, I'll do my best to keep to keep you posted,

Chuck, If you are still having trouble with the slicing jig after using a different saw, maybe you should try to make my eva cutting jig for slicing eva or cork. The Rodmake has an article on this tool . In that article it shows the tool attached to a Renzetti lathe, but with a little ingenuity it can be made to adapt to any lathe. You will not regret making this tool. Bill

Chuck, It sounds like you're having a problem with the jig that cuts slices to make trim rings. I don't use that jig. I use my eva cutting jig that was featured in Rodmaker magazine. It gives me straight and smooth cuts. There is another saw that might help you get a straighter cut. It's the Zona Universal saw #35=500. It;s a little thicker..How I solve the problem of cutting into the jig is,

Robert, you're right. volume 1 issue 3 has no article or plans, just a photo on the cover.I will check the other issues you suggested..I think I can work from a photo to make this jig but would have preferred plans.Tom, if you're still interested in volume 1 issue 3 I have two and I will send you one if you want. Thanks

Norman, thanks for steering Adam to my photos. I had forgotten that they were there. Adam, those photos show the tool adapted to a Renzetti lathe. I think with a little ingenuity, it can be adapted to any lathe. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email.

Mark, Thanks for the compliment. The Eva cutting tool that I invented is very accurate. I wish more rod builders would try it. It can be adapted to most lathes with a little ingenuity. Thanks again.

Adam said he was looking for the straightest cut he could get in eva. The Marchisella eva cutting tool will do that every time. When you use a piece of string or wire or a utility knife held in your hands, you will only produce good results some of times not all of the time,

Bryan Foredom foot control solid state . I bought mine a few years back from the manufacturer online for approximately $35. I would try to contact them to see if they have a foot pedal to accommodate your motor.

This was not a survey to find out which was best lathe but what rod makers were using. This survey is probably not that precise but it will help me with what I'm trying to do. I want to thank everyone who participated. Here are the results I got. Pac bay - 31%, Renzetti & Clemens - 29% Alps - 22%

The best way to get that candy effect is to put nylon thread, any color, over metallic thread such as gold or silver. Do not use ncp thread.
