If you have worked with carbon fiber grips you know that unlike fiberglass the carbon stuff can be sanded without leaving any sort of "wiskers" sticking out. It sands smooth.

I think the saltwater rod market will welcome them. No corrosion. Strength and cost will be the considerations.

I use PermaGloss about 90% of the time now but still use epoxy on occasion. I don't have any epoxy waste and never clean the syringes. If you mark them for resin and hardener you never have to clean them. I never mix less than 3ccs of each part and have never had a batch fail to set properly. Whatever bit I do not use is small potatoes against knowing your finish job is going to set and cure just

I have spent more time this afternoon thinking about this than I should have but one thing struck me --- if the lure is not moving then there is nothing to feel. It is only when the lure is moving such as being retrieved or falling on a taut or tensioned line that you can feel anything. If you feel it hit the bottom it was moving but once it stopped it is no longer moving and you no longer feel i

I think anything you add to the rod including any guides will affect the TNF. But the further out towards the tip you place them the larger the affect on the TNF will be.

I know the same sized fish would feel larger when fought on the fly rod so I would surely think the fly rod would be more sensitive for the same reason. But what is the ERN and AA of the fly rod? If the fly rod is a super slow action and just folds right down to the handle then maybe not.

So when they start to buzz and fall off the device, that would mean the buzz is actually a physical movement?

Depends on why you want it. Color? or Corrosion resistance? The latter is already a given with titanium so unless you just want a different color I doubt it buys you anything.

Mr. Forhan has probably had more influence on modern bass rod design than any fisherman in history. I would listen to what he has to say on balance. I look forward to the Anglers Resource podcast featuring Mr. Baylor.

It should not be difficult for Alex to run the TNF numbers on those two blanks. If he can get around to doing it I suspect that from the hand oscillation count the slower action and lower modulus blank will still be found to have a lower TNF than the higher modulus blank and yet it will remain more sensitive. So I would like to see the TNF numbers on those two blanks to confirm.

The test is interesting but does not surprise me. So frequency is not a good indicator of sensitivity. I would say frequency relates to rod speed as many others have been saying for years. So now the question would be what made the lower modulus blank more sensitive than the higher modulus blank? Taper, weight distribution?

I would not use a tack rag or even doubled back tape on the wraps to remove dust. No telling what may be in the adhesives. Just knock any dust off with a soft brush. I know some builders will drape paper or even kitchen saran wrap over the wraps to keep dust off. Dust is not a big deal. It comes off easily.

The Old Florida reels are not really that old. Most were built in the late 1990s to early 2000s. They are still considered to be very good reels .Good weight and balance and as their maker used to say almost as simple as a hammer. Not much to go wrong with them. Later the company was sold and renamed Natilus but the reels were not the same.

They open the doors at 8AM. You walk up, buy a ticket and go on in. If you are asking about if ticket sales and doors opening are at the same time, then yes. At least that's how they did it the times I have attended.

I listened to the new podcast today with Rich Forhan. Very to the point and shows why so many bass pros know who he is. The most influential rod builder of all time? I don't know but maybe. He is not a household word but maybe he should be. Nearly all freshwater rods these days do look like Forhan rods other than the Revolver Wrap.

In many if not most cases in saltwater sensitivity is not very important. These fish smash and grab a bait or lure with brute strength. You know when you are bit!! But rod speed cannot be stressed enough and to few rod builders talk about it or maybe do not understand it. A decade and a half or more back when the bass guys were learning that crankbaits were more successfully fished on glass than

Then all them have a strong chemical solvent in them. I do not believe Lumaseal is still made. Not sure.

You can tell a lot about what kind of product you have by how it is packaged. A moisture curing urethane will be packed in a glass bottle. Other types of urethanes will come in tin cans or plastic bottles.

I think CPXtra is or can be used as a color preserver. You cannot use Permagloss as a color preserver. Just an FYI.

There is an ongoing series of articles in the last few RodMakers mags that show how to make free form eva inlays and stuff. I have not seen these type grips ever before. They are beyond abstract are made with cuts that are not straight or angled but curved and shaped. Might not be for you but it is just one of many examples of how to break free from the norm and do your own thing.

I am sure that CPXtra is a very good product and gives great results but it will not give the same results as a moisture curing urethane like Permagloss. No other rod finish out there is as tough, hard, flexible and clear as Permagloss. Yes Permagloss has a strong solvent odor and over time can set up in the bottle. There is a reason for that and it is the price you pay for the toughest, lightest

Not sure if they are still around, but Landmark Components Co. makes all their stuff here in the U.S. and they used to make perfect replica Powell reel seats for a fraction of the cost. These were-are high quality seats that really hold a reel well. They also had very nice rod cases. I think they were out of CO and was told in the past year that they are still in business. Not sure.

Difference in what way? What good are measurements if they are not correct? Or do you mean does the slight difference make any difference? I guess that's up to builders who are sticklers for the really small details. Either way I do not believe you can increase a rod's power by adding components to it. At least I have never seen it happen.

Something is wrong with the CCS figures. The AA would not have changed. Action is built into the taper of the blank. And the power, whatever the ERN is from the g. figures look like the power increased after the blank was fitted out with components? That is impossible. The power will be lower once you add components to the rod. Are you certain your measurements are not in reverse?

Technically the thumb is not a finger........ It is one of five digits on the hand, but on a hand you have four fingers and one thumb. At least I think that is correct. At any rate if I am referring to the thumb I use the term thumb. So first finger is your "pointing" finger and no not the middle one!
