Check out this thread. Posted a picture in this thread (dropbox link) that shows a Fuji VSS setup with hidden thread. One of the Fuji offerings is pretty close match to to the NFC 3k grips. People in the thread offered up some other options that might be worth checking out.

If anyone is curious or might find this helpful here is a annotated photo showing all the parts after they are fitted up. Still have some thread work to do in between the split grips to tie in the gold color. Thanks to all who offered some assistance with this thread.

Checkout this from flex coat. Could make one as well. Best part when not using you can put it away.

Bob - I am at the Expo and sat in on a session done by the "Munich Rod Man", Mark Krouse I believe is his name. It was basically a Q/A session and we got into the topic of finish epoxy. One thing mentioned by Mr Krouse was that Epoxy will generally be dry to the touch on the outside within +/- 8-12 hours but it takes much longer to fully cure all the way thru. So, he said when he int

126. Re: Jerkbait blank
I just bought a PB691MXF Pointblank at the Expo today and am planning to build it into a jerkbait setup. Several other threads on here have good things to say about that blank for that application. After holding one today I'm thinking should do quite nicely as a jerkbait setup.
I'm 6'-4" and my son is 6'-2" so I'm thinking the 6'-9" length blank should be about right for us.

Are you talking about the weight rating? That info is in the spreadsheet but it is in the far right column. I'm not a Fly Rod guy so wasn't sure where best to

Hi all - I added some additional blanks to the spreadsheet. Added in pretty much the entire Batson Rainshadow Eternity RX10 series of blanks that Michael Danek was kind enough to share with me (I believe he got the info from another member on here...?). The info came directly from manufacturer. We now have the entire pointblank series and almost all of the Rainshadow Eternity series so kind of

@Herb - that is a good idea. May give that a go.
Here is a picture showing the dental ligatures and tools I had been using if anyone is interested. Tried posting on the picture site and again didn't work for me. I'm batting about .125 with the photo side of the site so, I think I'll stick with a separate picture site because it reliably works for me.

Here's a picture (hopefully) of what I'm talking about. Looking at picture thinking combination of poor guide prep, bands too tight, small guides, and fat fingers. Look like if I'm going to get into this might need to invest in better tool to prep guides (Don't tell my wife...). Going to have to keep playing with my guide placement process and refine.
Now that I have some scratches how do I

I am working on my 3rd and 4th builds and have maybe a silly question but it bugs me nonetheless. I have been using dental ligatures to temporarily support my guides as I place them so that I can test cast and do static loading before finalizing guide location. When I am sliding the guides around a bit to fine tune placement I have noticed that I sometimes slightly scratch the finish on the bla

Have my eye on some of the gold guides (spinning setup) for an upcoming project to build my nephews graduation present. Will stop by at the ICRBE to chat about options. Thanks.

I am really liking this thread also. Looking good to my eyes! @Bob - how are you inserting multiple pics into one post? I know pics can be tricky on the site but you have that down. I’ve not figured out the magic touch to get multiple in post images into one post. Don’t want to derail this post but if you have a quick hint let us know.

On the mobile app all my pictures show up. when looking on the website via computer just my first two pics show up. Not sure what is going on...? My measurements show that all pennies whether union shield or not weigh 2.5 grams. What is very interesting however is that US law now says a penny is now supposed to weigh 3.11 grams.
I'm satisfied that my measurements done back in Decembe

Did some measurements and it appears that the union shield Penny having a different weight is a Myth. I’ll post my pics…
This picture is 10 cents between year 2000-2009 with no union shield.

@ Tom Kirkman maybe this would make a good article topic for upcoming magazine article and eventually addition to the CCS references. Lots of union shield pennies out in circulation at this point. I know my bagged up sets have some. Now that I have scale will do some back checking. I agree with @ Mike that 25%+ could make pretty significant difference. The measurements on my stuff is likely

As per usual different websites say different things. When I did all my CCS measurements recently I did not have a scale and I used pennies minted after 2000. Now I have a scale, so I will check all my bagged up increments of pennies to see what they actually weigh. Will report back later.

Matt - the FG is a great knot but definitely takes more time/effort to tie. For me I generally would tie the long leader for a day on Lake Erie where you constantly have to re-tie because of zebra mussels, rocks, etc. With alot of practice I'm sure it becomes relatively quick to re-tie while out on the boat but I'm not that fast with it as of yet so if I had an issue and had to re-tie I would p

Thanks for checking Norm. I've got the gold/black on order so no worries. Shipping is as much as the part but I'm committed at this point :)
Looking forward to 1st Expo and hopefully seeing/meeting some of the faces behind the names of many of the helpful people that are on this forum. Thanks again!
