Hi all - I know there is much debate about "Sensitivity" and realize it is a hard nut to crack. Also can't argue with a longer rod providing more feel than shorter rod. I think an interesting experiment (and maybe future magazine article) would be to take 3 or 4 rods of same Length, Power and Action with the only significant measurable difference being the TNF and come up with a way t

Patrick - great report. I've built on both of the PB blanks you mentioned and agree they are really nice responsive blanks that can handle a wide range of baits. Also, thanks for posting up the CCS data for the Xray SJ736 with and without the modifications. I'll add that into our ongoing CCS Spreadsheet info. What I was most interested in was whether you had any CCS data on the Xray SB683?

Hi all - Norm Miller recently posted some CCS numbers for some NFC Travel blanks in another thread here I added those values into our spreadsheet and also listed them again below: SJ683-4 IP = 467 gm. AA = 76.5 MB683-4 IP= 518 gm. AA = 73.5 MB704-4 IP = 740 gm. AA = 74.5 I've got some more I need to measure up here shortly and will post here soon. If anyone else has any other to ad

Hello All - Awhile back I received an information email/notification that Batson was releasing several additional RX10 Eternity models to their lineup. After I received that email I reached out to Geoff at Batson via email asking if they had the CCS numbers for the new models. He replied back the next day indicating that they would be taking measurements once they had sales inventory for all th

Tim - When I'm looking over numbers I always like to look at the source. If you scroll over to the right in the spreadsheet there is a column that lists the source. Batson/Rainshadow has been gracious enough to provide us measurements on many of their blanks so if I see its coming from manufacturer I have a higher confidence in the numbers. Also keep in mind that there will be some variation i

I believe both those blanks are listed on the CCS spreadsheet at this link. # Best to view spreadsheet on a computer. I’m mobile right now so didn’t copy/paste the data in this reply. Built two of the ETES72ML (one spinning and one casting). Use the casting rod for light cranks and other light baits (BFS type stuff). Nice light blank. No experience with the Immortal blank.

here is how you get to the info: 1. Goto the "Product" page. 2. Then pick the length you are interested in. 3. Then once on the length specific page there is a link at the end of most of the descriptions that says, "Hard-Specs". Click on that link after the model you are interested in and you will see the data.

John - updates look great. Appreciate that you offer individual parts as well so I can upgrade my DC777. For me, looking at the adjustable motor bracket for those times when need a bit more adjustability/flexibility and the tip/top roller to take the wiggle out of the smaller tip sections. Will give you a call to confirm the bracket will work on the DC777 motor. Thanks for all you guys do.

I bought (4) blanks at the 2023 EXPO. The blanks were as follows: 1 - NSB-70MF, 1 - NSB70MH Fast, and 2 - 7' prototype blanks that are very similar to the 7' NSB MH Fast. I measured up the Common Cents System ratings and added to the CCS database for the two standard factory blanks. Can find that info here: or directly on spreadsheet here: Since then they have added High Modulus models

Checkout this thread. At the very top is a link to a Google Docs Spreadsheet. Also here is the link to the Google Docs Spreadsheet (same one as mentioned above) that has many blanks in it beyond fly blanks. Checkout the README tab of the spreadsheet for a link to a YouTube video on how to filter down based on what you are interested in. Also has link to more background info on CCS.

Here is an NFC blank under their Center pin category that they actually have labeled as a good option for a Crappie Live Scope jigging blank. The finish on that blank may make packing threads a bit more challenging but it is one I have been thinking about trying out. I have not yet built a dedicated crappie rod in that 10' to 13' category but it is something on my to do list at some point and

Not built a rod like this yet but will eventually. Below link is a factory rod with the reel seat and fore grip like you are talking about I believe. I have this rod and it works pretty well for live scoping crappies in cool/cold water. You just search with electronics and drop bait right down to them while watching them pretty much the whole time on livescope. My son has actually taken thi

Sorry - I might not have been clear but was wondering about best tools to cleanly increase the hole size on the ends of the carbon fiber grips? No problem reaming the inner foam but reamers were not doing a great job on the ends of the grips. I ended up using a rounded file but gotta believe there are better tools/methods for that particular job. Learned a lesson about how tough the carbon fib

Last weekend was working on a split grip casting rod using some CFX carbon fiber grips. The butt of the blank was pretty good size so when reaming ended up getting into the carbon "skin". However, the inner foam reamed much easier and, before I knew it, when fitting grip I ended up scratching the blank because the carbon skin wasn't as big as the foam inner core. My primary question

Has anyone built on anymore of the rod forge blanks? Any numbers on the 7'-6" NSB blanks? was looking at the 7'-6" NSB M and MH.

Here is a pic of casting rod but same could apply to spinning. Was thinking would be nice to have an EVA “cover” that glued just to the nut but also covered the threads. Was just wondering if anyone knew of a premade EVA piece out there on the market? Pretty sure could make a piece but If could by the piece for a dollar or two would save the time and additional tools expenses. With differen

Hi all - sorry I wasn't clear in original post but what I was thinking is that someone might sell a small pre-made EVA piece that would cover the Nut portion on the standard Fuji DPS style hood like pictured at this link: I have a few of the Kistler rods that have the small EVA piece like in these pictures. The very front part of the EVA piece is very flexible and feels like it is

Does anyone know of a supplier that might sell these type hood covers? This is on a Kistler factory spinning rod. I know I could make something similar but currently not sure I have all the tools necessary. And sometimes just easier/quicker to buy some than making. Simple way to cover thread and nut on reel seats. I believe this one is a Fuji DPS style seat/hood.

I have tried both methods (what Norm described) and pulling thru and cutting thread end after. Have had success and failures with both methods. Still learning and I think as with most things practice makes perfect. With the Norm suggested method I have cutoff pull thru thread too short and my wrap has come unraveled on a few occassions. Also, sometimes it is hard for me to get pull thru thr

Check out Anglers Resource Website. They have online software on there that helps with layout using either New Guide Concept or K Concept layouts. Also, I recently found this chart that I hadn't seen before. It gives some good starting points for layouts for different length rods but for sure you'd want to tweak your layout for your particular blank that you are building. Here are the links
