Not familiar with the exact component but you can always make your own with Burl cork for a it of robustness over normal cork - several burl cork vendors offer rings without the bored hole in some of the rubberized versions for such purposes

Massimiliano - the last part of my most recently reply was not really intended to be directed to you specifically but to a more general audience. My apologies as I was not meaning to imply you were looking for anything free or such…. Just struck a nerve on something that I see across the rod building community.

I get wanting to save a few dollars - and I’ll admit I don’t know what the import duties into Italy would be - but at the same time is spending that small amount (relative) extra to purchase from someone that supports the rod building community and provides goods and services to help further the craft in various ways not worth the extra? I mean it seems the same folks that are looking to save

It would not be right for someone to just send over the color codes Billy uses in his shade packs as he put in that time and $$$ to bring in product and find the colors that work well together to make up a specific spade pack. While it’s certainly not something that could be trademarked or copyrighted or anything it is “Intellectual Property” in a sense and would just be bad form to pass along t

- do everything possible to keep the total package length under 8' - Ship in Schedule 40 PVC pipe - its gotten expensive and you're going to toss 2-3 of a length away, but you WILL pay for taking the cheap way out sooner than later otherwise. I've had a 3" thin-wall PVC pipe with a heavy jigging rod get bent in shipment and snap the blank in half - and delivered with just a small crease

Byron - Just dropped you an email reply - unfortunately at the moment I can't do snake-guides... have not found a source for true titanium snake wire guides (the REC's are a titanium-nickle alloy which won't anodize) and I'm not yet comfortable on powder coating fly guides until I can prove line-wear on them.... going to setup a test fixture eventually to run tippet and other line through snake

You’ll need to drill those out at a minimum it looks like and then find ones with the right size ID so as to not mar the anodized surface. I’ve powder coated some trim parts like that in orange or other colors for some customers - the dimpled ones can be problematic with the powder paint pulling back from the sharp edges of the dimples as the powder goes fluid - but on the smooth sweep type w

On the search now myself. Tried something this weekend from outside the rod building world that’s a new product - it’s ok but darkens things just a shade more than Chromaseal - but has the benefit of sealing better with just one coat. Word in the street is there is something in the mix that may be a winner from someone with a trusted record in our space - fingers crossed

stars should go to the tip of the rod in my opinion. I see some wrapped the other way and I think it has to do with the book or other they are following and not thinking about which end of the rod is which….(

Congrats to the AT team. Will be interesting to see the price point. It’s an attractive handle for sure. Seems very similar to the one NFC came out with late Spring as well - curious to how they differ - other than one being forged carbon and the other woven. Would certainly speed up a build with a great looking setup

I’ve found Fuji’s NOCP white to be the best I’ve used. You still have to pack it TIGHT / and then some more. Doing an underwrap in silver can help with any light color. You can also double wrap it in white. I’ve also colored the epoxy with the pigment of Testors enable paint and applied a couple of coats once on a rod what was just white wraps on a black blank

I rarely am done with 2 coats of epoxy - almost always 3 - sometimes 4. I apply them thin - first coat is really a penetration coat and I expect to see most of not all the thread texture showing as it soaks in. The second coat will generally give a nice result but typically needs a final light coat to address areas around the feet. I use Gen4 regular build pretty much exclusively. I place th

I have the larger, variable speed version of the HF lathe. I know some have recommended a 3 jaw chuck, but I turn a lot of block EVA and use 4-jaw. The Nova 4-jaw is often recommended, though I have a knock-off from Wen. I did add Nova "long jaws" to it which helps in holding material more securely especially when boring out 6+ in EVA block material.... In addition I have a Jaco
