You always toe the mark Roger . If I may ask what part of the world are you in as I had confused you with another rod builder . As always , TIA

36. Stencils
I'm looking for small stencils to trace onto cork handles . They can be almost anything fishing related . I have looked everywhere I can think of but to no avail . Any ideas . As always , TIA

A vote down on Hitena , especially that crappy stretch thread , breaks easy and gives the fuzzys . I wrap metallic Prowrap and haven't had any trouble just back your tension down a little . I dont care for Fishhawk either .

40. Re: Rod Dryer?
I use two , a flex coat and an crb 9 rpm . I prefer the CRB as it has an on an off switch inline and intermittent action that the Flex coat doesn't . No trouble from either one . I also use an outside supplier for a few select parts like an inexpensive self centering chuck and noodle tip wrapper extension . The $15 self entering chuck may also work on your wrapper , I dont know .

42. Snake guides
First let me say that I like Black guides . I also like Snake brand guides . Here's the problem , the SB guides don't come in black .
The first time I ordered black nickel guides from a picture on a web site that made them look black but when I received them I was very disappointed to find that they are not in fact anything like that picture . I ended up having to use different reel seat , wrap

Thanks guys but I made a mistake when I posted this . It is not an s-glass like I thought , that's another blank I have waiting .
This is the way this blank is described ( Uni- direction fiber glass with carbon helix core ) and I believe the carbo helix core is why it is the color it is . Thanks again .

I was sold a blank as an s-glass but I believe it may be graphite . Every s-glass blank that I have stripped has been mostly white in color after the stripping . This blank I started to strip at the butt and it came out a dirty gray and when I put saliva on it it turned black . I have no idea what to think except that it may indeed be graphite . Opinions ? As always , TIA .

Roger , that was a cool video and you're right I used a little different approach but same results . I subbed to Flex Coat and I think I'll build something like that and start doing my own grips . Looks like fun . Even though I didn't have everything I needed today it was a good learning experience and turned out well . Maybe one of these days my rods will actually be worth what I have in them !

Roger , thank you I didn't even think of wax paper .I too do the complete rod but with my low rpm motors end up having to mix two batches but it work ! I thought of that cling wrap but thought it was too flimsy and may end up epoxying one section to the other . Thanks again .

On multiple section rods like a 4 piece fly rod how do you put the epoxy on without getting the ferrule wrap epoxy on the other fitted section ? I have been masking the male part of the other section with masking tape and then epoxy the ferrule . The only problem I have had doing this is sometimes the sections work themselves loose . I usually dont have any problems but twice now while not paying

I forgot to tell how I did it . As per Normans idea I heated the end cap with a hair dryer and pulled it off . I then mounted a drill in my vise in the garage and took a small rat tail file and inserted it up the rod blank and had the end of the rod wrapped with masking tape laying in my CBR rod wrapper . Locked the variable speed drill in the on position and took various grits of sand paper and

Thanks guys it's in the history books . Done did as they say in some parts of some southern states , like NY ! lol
Michael , Roger , I have it's twin . I had this guy build me a rod for a fishing trip and I didnt think it was going to get done in time so I built this exact rod , blank , color wraps , guides but a different grip . I like the rod I built and not the one he built so I made the gr

Thanks guys , it's a flyrod . I think I'll take your advice Norman and pull the cap off . If I bugger it I dont mind putting another reel seat too much but the grip is really nice burled and I'd like to keep it if possible . This rod was built for me before I started building my own and I have never fished it and cant seem to sell it so time to do something . Thanks again .

53. Grip reduction ?
I have a newly built rod that the grip is too thick in diameter for me and I'm wondering if there is a way to reduce it without having to
redo the entire grip, seat, butt section . Keep in mind I dont have a lathe and I have never turned a grip before . I dont have a power wrapper and my dryer motors are only 9 and 18 rpm . Any ideas are appreciated . As always , TIA .

Right now the stripping guide is 17" from the butt and it's 7"s to the first guide . Will this impact anything or should I take the stripper off and relocate it . The rod is in the CP stage right now . TIA
