I just placed my 1st order with RODgeeks and am getting gloss only blanks. I received the blank sample pack before the blanks and think I made a mistake by not adding at least the black metallic color to them. Looking to see if anyone has been selling blanks with gloss only and what the customer reaction is to them compared to the black blank which is standard on St Croix. I'm not sure I like it.

Steven, All but one of all the rods I have built has been using metallic thread. I built 15 rods last year for customers all using the Pro Wrap Premium Metallic thread. Only on UL - ML rods. I like the looks of it and so did my customers. No problems with it. I have had an UL I built years ago that has made many trips to Canada and has landed plenty of nice fish with it. Last fall a 42'"mus

Sorry didn't think about what it would be used for. Walleye is the target for him. I did look on RODgeeks but they did not list the Trolling rods like everything else. I could guess just thought I would ask.

I have been asked about building a Trolling rod. He is not sure of the length yet so I am needing info for a 7', 8', 9', and a 10'6" blank which I would purchase from RODgeeks. Thanks Rick

I just want to thank all of you who have given me your input on the thread. I am not new to building rods but I am new to building rods as a small business and want to make sure I do it right. So any and all info I can get is very much appreciated. To me no question is stupid so if I am thinking of one I will most definitely ask it. Since joining this sight I have had nothing but a positive exper

HAHA!!! Herb I do agree with you on asking 1st. The main reason I am asking now is I have started a small business building rods. All the ones I have built in the past have all been using metallic thread so this was my 1st rod built with a different type of thread. Saying that, before I keep building my thread supply thought a good idea to ask. Appreciate your feed back Rick

I've built many UL - ML rods using only Metallic Thread. I love the look and have not had any problem with any of the poles I use or built for friends. As a matter of fact last fall I landed a 42" Muskie on a 6'6" UL - 6 lbs test with no problem. I never horse them but let them run and reel em back

I have another questions this time about Pro Wrap Color Fast Thread. I guess what I am wondering as a new builder what are the thoughts on the color fast thread compared to nylon thread that you have to use color preserver. I have already invested in the color fast thread and just finished a rod. It look good but does anyone know the long term look without using color preserver? Thanks Rick

I am new to the rod building business and would like any feed back on Pac Bay Tradition ll and Arctos rod blanks. I have been building St Croix blanks but with them discontinuing selling them I would like to know about Pac Bay blanks. I have used nothing but Pac Bay SV Zirconia guides so far and thought about giving the blanks a go. But would like a little feed back on them if possible.
