Hi folks , i am trying to find out which carrier to go with for shipping a PVC rod tube that is slightly over 8 feet long . E bay allowed me to calculate cost for this and it came out to $138.00 to go from N.C to Texas .

Some have said they love the "Rod Room" so i decided to give them a shot and all i can say is they will now be my # 1 choice for all my rod building needs from now on. Not only do they give you the best possible price on shipping costs , often slashing shipping costs 50% or more on small purchases but they have the fastest shipping i have ever experienced. Your order is out the door

Herb goes out of his way to help you in any way he can , he is a great guy to deal with and promptly returns calls and e mails . He is also exceptionally trustworthy and gets the best price for his customers, i cannot say the same for others i have dealt with in the past unfortunately.

Jon Hood : I want to set the lathe up on the opposite side of the table I had originally planned (wife thing). Man, sounds like an awful lot of work , i think replacing the wife would be the easier option.

Great choice , All my rod's are equipped with the Alconite ring and will continue to be in the future. Minima guides are interesting to me however and many top anglers use them , just need to research them more.

Yes it does but so does increasing the tension on the thread spool and turning the spool in the opposite direction of which it was applied by your free hand, the thread will remain right where it is without tension loss

I stopped using those tension rods altogether , i just constantly tighten and loosen the thread spool tension with one hand as i wrap , if i decide to walk away for awhile i tighten the tension up and it holds everything in place.

I wouldn't even try applying the new coat with a typical instrument if the finish is still soft , i would mix and slowly pour a little bit of epoxy on the troubled areas and use gravity to guide it around the blank . As Tom said DO NOT rough the area up if it's still soft , it will become an ever bigger nightmare.

I just went through the new Fuji catalog and not only do they NOT offer the RV in stainless, (People have been requesting this on nearly every saltwater fishing forum since 2014 ) but they also have not bothered with the request of a high frame double foot KW in size 25. They have concentrated on making an RV in sizes 30 and 40 however and they now have new LRV titanium guides to complement th

I agree 100% , at this time there is no option to purchase individual guide sizes with the microwave system and i agree with everything else you wrote EXCEPT that casting accuracy depends solely on a casters skillset , smaller guide rings do indeed help in casting accuracy and that applies to every caster at every skill level but we can agree to disagree . I will not engage in an all out brawl to

I did see some new sizes of Microwave kits being offered which is great and i do plan to build an 8 foot inshore rod in the near future so Microwaves will be looked at very closely for that build . It's either American Tackles Microwave system or Fuji's KR concept and from everything i have read it's a pick em in that regard because both are outstanding but i believe the Microwave system would

I took a hard look at the Microwaves for my surf rod build but two things prevented me from choosing them , # 1 was the price for the set, and the second was i didn't want a 50/30 size stripper , a 40 /25 or 40/20 was very appealing to me and i wanted to use smaller runners than size 10 . WAIT A MINUTE before you attack calm down , deep breaths people because there is no need for any hostil

Someone said Fuji's thought process on this is that most who spend the extra $$ on titanium frames would not want the Alconite ring material and would prefer SIC which i think is completely wrong . Not only is SIC less popular than Alconite but everything i have seen has people saying it provides zero advantage to anglers in 99% of surfcasting scenarios which i happen to agree with and it's know
