I may be in the market for some camo grips in the near future. I do not create my own grips so I would have to find someone who sells them. Who has the best options for camo grips?

Ive rebuilt several production rods. It gives me practice where I dont really care how badly I mess up the build. I have also found some really nice rod blanks that where hiding under nasty paint.

Thanks for your input Tom. Making money would be great, but its not a short-term goal. At this point, Im just glad that someone wants me to build them a rod. For now, Im just sticking with cost of materials and a flat fee based on complexity of the rod. I definitely got better over the past year or so, but not to the point where I can crank out a complex wrap in a couple hours. Once I get mo

Like the title says, I am starting to sell some rods. I know of the FET that I should take into consideration. I also know there is alot of discussion around how much you should charge. Since Im new, Im thinking like $15 an hour for the labor. Do you guys start with a standard 'build fee' or 'materials fee' on top of the hourly and the necessary components for the build? I got taken advantag

I am currently working with a client on a Marine Corps build. I have searched the archives for the USMC colors but I havent see anything regarding to Madeira thread numbers. Does anyone have a hex to Madeira conversion chart? He is looking for an American flag butt wrap with his name, rank, dates of service along with the USMC emblem and his stripes. I have created the image to use for the

I received more pieces of historic fishing gear. I have a Montague New Yorker 8740 which is in pristine shape. It is a short 2 piece rod where the butt section has a metal piece that goes into the rod itself. This seems like it could be something significant, but not sure. There is also a Montague Stone Harbor which is split bamboo and has eyes on both sides. Very distinct piece. It doe

Mark, I totally agree. I took out the SouthBend with the red auto reel yesterday for a test run. I brought 1 rainbow to the net and lost 2. The rod is older than I am but casts pretty good but the age definitely shows. The action is slow and you need a good bit of effort to cast it compared to the graphite rods I usually use. A 6wt is overkill for little trout but it should do well for ch

That will be awesome! I would love to build a St Croix fly rod. Hopefully they dont go for the crazy price points that some fly rod manufacturers go for.

Received some more rods, some of which have the labels on still while others seem to have worn off. The fly rods need some TLC while the spinning rods look to be in decent shape. I dont think any of them are worth anything. One of the fly rods looks to be a 6' 1wt which I cant wait to fix up and try some wild trout with it
