I'm using a Rainshadow Immortal 6'2" extra fast walleye blank. IMMWS62MXF-TC. It'll do everything you specify very well. I usually use either 6 lb mono or 10 lb braid with a 6 lb leader.

Yes, that's what I do. I use the rubber winding check.

I found that the CRB palm swell reel seat is considerably lighter than the AT seat. I leave just enough threads on the seat to fit the reel and use rubber winding checks in the end. The nut can go over the end of the seat if the winding checks just fits the inside of the reel seat.

I've been using Minima and SSR guides for a few years on all my bass rods and not only are they very light they're inexpensive. I've grooved the tip tops but never a running guide and now use a ceramic tip top. In rivers I fish I use 6 lb mono and never noticed curling.

I bought 2 of those from Mudhole 2 weeks ago along with a blank, reel seats, cork and other stuff. If they're old products that's on you. My setup works great

11. Thread?
I have been using a home built thread tension device for many years but don't like the way it deviates with different spools. I bought a tension device from Mudhole (sewing machine type) and need to know how to use it. Mounting, where the thread comes from, etc. A picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks.

I too used a 9' flyrod with a spinning reel and monofilament sewing thread, which was, I think, about 1 lb test.

What the others say. Spinning is less problem in the wind with light baits. I use spinning for 1/16 oz weights and a finesse worm. !/8 or more I use a baitcaster.

I jig for Alabama bass in Lake Lanier regularly and use a store bought 6 1/2' medium for 1/2 oz and mh for heavier with a mf action. 8 lb fluorocarbon for under 20' and braid with a 3' leader for over 20'.

Just looked @ some of my rods and I have a 196-5 and an LB270C among others with no labelsl I also have a Trueline in my stash along with a couple of Calstars. I didn't care about the history just the performance and they worked. Thanks for the history lesson Michael.

Spencer, When I break or lose the one I have I'll try one of those. They're less expensive than the Rainshadows I've been using too.

For years I've been trying to build a very sensitive rod to use on brush lined small rivers for bass. My 5th one is, I think as close as I'm going to get. Rainshadow Immortal 6'2" xf cut to 5'6" spinning. It's caught Alabama and Shoal Bass over 4 lbs and still feels good with an 8" Chattahoochee or Bartrams Bass.

Barnes and Noble is a New York booksellers and publishing company so I don't believe it's French. It has a card catalog number and is 279 pages full of information. Norm, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Norm, It's called "Sportsman's Digest of Fishing" by Hal Sharp published in 1952. I found it in some of my childhood books my mother saved. While reading through it I came across the page and thought it might be interesting to someone on this site.

I've been using the IMMWS62MXF-TC for several years and have cut one to 5 1/2' for kayak stream fishing. The full size one is better for me. I use either 6 lb mono or 10 lb braid with a leader usually with a 1/16th or 1/8th oz weight and a finesse worm. Have caught hundreds of bass up to 6-10 with the rods.
