I have the 270 and have noticed the same thing. At first I thought maybe I touched the back side some how, but since I've been using transfer tape, it has eliminated that possibility.

I have used it once so far. will be doing #2 & #3 today. The first one worked quite well....it stayed gripped to the mandrel while turning, then removed relatively easily with a little bit of persuasion. I am using titebond 3 . I was worried the wax might allow it to break free from the mandrel easily.

Is there any reason basic candle wax cannot be used as a release agent on a mandrel to get a completed grip off of it? Thanks

So if I do the boil method to loosen a grip and reel seat from a blank I have epoxied them to,will the grip delaminate in the boiling water? I used titebond 3 to glue them up.

Sounds like I missed an amazing time! Hey next year you should see if you can get LarryTobin who sells the PEAR label 270 printing system to set up at the show. He might do it since you are expanding your size of the show. I love my 270 system.

I was wondering if anybody out there has bought the pearlabel 270 system? I have talked to the company and he says he has sold many units to rod builders lately. I am considering buying a unit and would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

Carlo, weighed it this morning...tipped the scales at 4 oz. The only thing I wasn't pleased with is the scuff marks in the finish from the pieces rubbing against each other in the plastic bag it was shipped in. Other than that I am looking forward to building this rod. Mark
