I have empty thread spools that I lay on the track of my power wrapper if I need 6 threads I put 6 spools on the track when I get a thread done I slide 1 over .help me keep track

I use a mixer and mix 12 cc A to 12 cc B at a time and run 4 minutes and do not have any problems but I have to work fast applying

I have a friend that worked with me on a party boat 30 years ago I made a rod or two for him. He got his son for Christmas the equipment and then came over for a 101 class.

I would say give it a try because you could always do it 2,3,4 times .Last winter I redid the first rod that got me started in this addiction . wish I had a before and after photo . Maybe you could find another builder near you to give you some help. post where you are at and see what happens

I will put my 2 cents in A book on custom rod building is a good start in these they tell you a lot about tools and how to do it. I go to my book shelf often. as Donald said the extreme reamer is a great tool I'm glad I bought one.

I know that the mix was right because the first cup I started I had a air bubble in the syringe and put that to the side and started over 6 ml of each .I usually do 12ml of each and let it mix for 5 minutes but have been using pac bay or flex coat high build. but have used pro coat and thread master also. I have a 6 hour timer set up on my dryer power. It did harden but with a sag. I like toms i

I didn't find it had a strong odor . Just took longer than the 2hrs the instruction said to keep it rotating for it to set

I tried the aftcote rod finish for the first time let rod rotate for 6 hours and it sagged on me. I mixed 6cc of each part temperature was 70 degrees with low humidity . I know I had a good mix . on the instructions it also say self life approximately is one year. My friend say he has to let it rotate 12 hrs thanks for any help in advance

For saltwater fishing I like a composite blank because you can get the flounder you are after but if a black drum hits you could handle it also. mhx has just come out with a line of composite saltwater blanks that has me looking at them . American tackle make some.

To get a good grip on the rod I use two of the rubber pad that are for getting a grip on jar lids. learned that trick from some one on here.

I found that if I align the tip on the rod so the ring is down at the 6 o clock and not up at 12 o clock gravity will help keep it aligned to the reel seat. a little water spay bottle help to cool as to not over heat. lighter, small torch, heat gun they all work.

What I have done is mount a 2 X 4 on the wall and drilled holes on a 45 degree angle going down .Then I take reel seats and glue a piece of wood dowel or rod blank in the reel seat ,when done I have the reels hanging on the wall like they have on display at some of the big stores

I got a nice heat gun from ace hardware store there name on it . there is two fan speeds and 5 temperature setting plus it is made were it can be placed pointing up so you have your hands free . I use it to soften epoxy to strip rods down for repair or no heat and just air to release bubbles.

I like the flex coat guide foot adhesive I use two pairs of tweezers one to hold the guide and heat the foot then put the hot foot to the glue stick then use the second pair of tweezers to get the guide set in place
