William I use flex coat on a lot of my rods for party boat rentals it works great now for trolling rods and other custom builds I now use classic pro-flex rod coat this is the old ( af-cote epoxy ) why because it has extended work time and stay flexible after it cures. but with this I need to keep the dryer running longer .they all work .
William this is a good question yes it has been ask

63. Re: rod finish
I coated a old rod with finish that I put blue powder pigment in it .The rod is now a good looking rod style verses performance . Plus it gave me something to do one winter. and I learned I had to put the rod dryer on a 30 degree angle to get the extra finish to roll off to get a lite coat.

what I found if the rod is a gift they want a pretty rod and some times the person getting it is not a die hard fisherman the die hard wants a performance rod first . I build performance first that why if someone tell me that they want me to build them a rod I tell them that we need to talk and then I will ask a lot of questions .

you can use the inserts again you can clean them with alcohol. you might want to keep a spare set of syringes around because after awhile they get messy I tried cleaning with alcohol and it took the markings off

79. fenwick feralite
What type of material is feralite I tried to heat tip and pull it of and the blank crushed and splintered ?

Some of the penn rods I rebuilt the tip was epoxy on and heat did not work. when I do a lot of rods at one time I take air operated sander and start sanding on the side of the tip if it is glue the friction of the sanding will heat it up enough to loosen the tip if it was epoxy I sand it down on both side to get it to split. or I take a file to both sides to slit it.

If you are trying to turn it to get your wrap started down by the tip I put light pressure on the foot pedal the motor has power but the rod is not turning then I turn it by hand to get the wrap started
