183. Re: Microwave guides
I love and use Fuji guides all the time. Fuji will sell me whatever guide and however many I want. I'm not coerced into buying a full set of anything as with the Microwaves. This has long been a bone of contention with me. I like Microwaves just fine, just not full sets.

There's nothing you need to know about building a rod that can't be found at Flex-Coat.

Roger, I can change them, but I'd rather not.

I have been told by A/T via phone that stripper location can vary 2" in either direction from the spool, but they recommend keeping the grouping distance the same. You can always experiment a bit.

Brandon you can do it, I have with both Permagloss and CPXtra. Use VERY little pigment. You can always do 2 coats. It's tricky, but if you don't like the look and you're fast enough you may be able to wipe it off with DNA. I know this works with CPXtra, but Permagloss may go off too fast. The pigment doesn't really mix with the finish, it kinda just gets suspended in it.

Alas, I never achieve absolute perfection. I use 4.5 KT runners and size C thread and do as Norm describes. I takes a bit of work to get the hang of it, and I don't always quite get it. We're talking about 6 wraps here. How bad can it look? I guess if it's that bad practice and experimentation are in order. You're still doing your best work by fighting against guide pullout. Now, would you rathe

I don't remember the inventor selling full sets. I could be wrong. I think that changed after A/T took them over.

Looks good Tom, hope the Expo's the best yet! This might explain the Chinese surveillance balloon over N.C. (Chinese blank research) Lol

Permagloss cures rock hard and will certainly work, but it is water thin and will not give the appearance of an encapsulated wrap unless many subsequent coats are applied, and maybe not then. It'll be bullet proof, but will never look like epoxy. Many good epoxy choices out there, all more user friendly than Permagloss.

I would use the Microwave stripper and next reduction guide with the runners of my choice, which would be Fuji KB-KT's.

Daryl, your being able to see individual threads in the wrap is the way nylon/poly appears. When the wraps look more like paint or tape that's more likely NCP thread. With it the individual threads tend to appear blended together.

I've used 3 sets so far, (because they do look unique) they work fine. As long as I have to buy a full set I won't be using them. Don't care for the runners.

Daryl, I'm a bit late back to the party, but that would be a recurring glitch associated with me. It's been mentioned before, but never corrected or explained. It's a good forum, bound to be a few bugs.

Daryl, I thinks the wraps you're referring to may be done with NCP thread. It gives a tape like appearance to the wraps.

Dave, Bro!, love you more than ever! Some guys are always right even when they're not, and they never seem to be able to let it go.

The oft debated balance topic usually has to do with bass casting rods used for tip up techniques.

Vibrations whether be they be heard or felt, are vibrations nonetheless.

And to be sure, if vibrations didn't travel up a line we wouldn't have music.

I'd opt for the testing being conducted independently of the Expo. Enough going on there.
