I don't believe Fuji says that Torzite is any harder or smoother than Sic, only that the rings can be more thinly formed resulting in less weight. They're not worth the cost for my purposes. And although adding guides to a blank won't "increase" sensitivity. Using the lightest possible guides will reduce it the least. Bet you'll never feel it. Lol

Yeah, the guy asks how to add color, and you tell him how not to! Lol

I built a casting rod as a grad gift for a family friend using these when they first came out. As they looked cheap (?) I told him if he didn't like the guides I'd replace them. I know I've repeated this offer at least twice since and he's never taken me up on it, so I'd say they're fine. Not my cup of tea personally, from an appearance standpoint.

I expect when St. Croix sends me a SC-5 blank with 2 curves in it, they send them to a lot of people. MLXF 7-6, They get pretty skinny way out there, must be very hard to make a straight one. Thing casts like a dream. All credit goes to the builder!

How does one go about installing it? Kinda hard to know what you're thinking NFC. How about some fundamental installation instructions for some of us who may be less intuitive?

Most expensive blank I ever bought had two curves in it.

If this keeps up, I may reach those pearly gates sooner than expected! Way back Dale Clemens thoroughly confused me also. (is the spine the stiff side or the soft side) Lol

If one day I should fail to make it thru the pearly gates. I'll likely be forced to read spine threads for all eternity. Amen

Tom, I believe John's talking about 2 different rods here. I don't think he casts the ice rod.

I use TVS 16 seats and nobody complains. Tastes may differ.

Most of what we really "need" to know can be learned from a Flex-Coat video.

The gel pen we have (Gelly Roll) does not work as well as we were led to believe it should. This was after one try. It didn't seem to flow nicely. I'll apply a little heat to the pen tip and try it again when I get a chance.

I guess you market to the people with money. Much to be learned from videos, and quickly. My prayers have apparently been answered in that people actually read past posts. My hat's off to you!

If the weight is glued inside the blank, it's in there forever. The method used makes it "possible" to remove the weight in the future by only sacrificing the fighting butt.

I believe in butt weighted rods for certain techniques, but my rods have weight adjustable butt caps. Your method looks very interesting and should be perfect as long as you're sure the weight will always be needed. You seem to be sure and I say go for it.

I also see no need for spiral wrapped bass rods. I have 3 (high end Bass Pro Shops rods) I rebuilt as spiral a few years ago and I may change them back.
