It sounds like a simple spiral using a bumper guide might work best for the problems you forsee with 2-4 piece rod. If you have time, you might search simple spiral for subject and Tom Kirkman for the author, and maybe all dates for in place of the last 30 days.

I use elmers glue on small guides that I can not secure in other ways. I need to hold pressure on the guide for about a minute so that the guide does not come off when I take my finger off the guide foot. Then I let the guide dry for an hour before wrapping. It is time consuming, i build only a few rods, so it works for me. I do wrap the feet with tape while finding the position for the guides.

Hi Jarrod, "How dow i figure out the size guide i need to replace. Also for future rod building how do you figure out what size guides to use on builds". In sponsor to the left, Jan's Netcraft has a button towards the top of the homepage labeled parts sizing. On the fourth page of the chart is a guide and tip top sizing chart that may help.

Hi Ron, I may have read your post wrong, but if you use slip bobbers with a closed face reel, what type of bobber stop are you using? Thanks

you could put a dab of elmer's glue on the foot and let it dry for a minute or so, and then put it in place. you will need to hold the guide in place for a bit, till you can get your finger off the guide without pulling the guide off the blank. I do this with micro's. but i am retired and am in no hurry with this hobby.

Hi, I did a search (all dates) and could not find information on CRB SSR Match-Style Light-Duty Spinning Guides. They look very much like Pacbay Minima match guides. Has anyone used these? If so, how are they? Thanks

I am reworking a spinning rod. I ended up ordering the pac bay match guides for the reduction train. Before I ordered them I had been following a post comparing the Fuji KLH 16H-8H-5.5M to 20H-10H-5.5M. Because I was going to use Pac Bay match guides I compared heights of the Fuji guides to the Pac Bay match. The PBm 20---47, KLH16--42.3; PBm 10--27, KLH8--26.8; PBm 5--14.6, KLH5.5M--14.6. I am

For Rick, You say earlier, "SIN ring guides, also in 316 material guides, they weigh less than the steel rings everyone thinks are so light." Are you referring to Seaguide single-foot Guides HLG ? Thanks

Hi, I recently tried to set up two rods for slip bobbers to fish for walleye. I had used one in the past with limited success (caught some). This time I tied a mono leader to the main line (fire line), using the knot as my bobber stop. This caused ticking on the cast. Looking at the spool, I could see the line snagging on the knot as it came off the spool. So I tried the knot with a mono main l

Just curious, being a 4 piece rod, is there a guide on the butt section? If not, you would probably be able to replace seat from top of butt section.

I built an ultralight spiral wrapped spincast rod. When trying to reach some crappies from a boat, It cast 1/32 oz. jigs just as far as an ultralight spinning set up I had with me. I would not shy away from the spiral wrap.

Gene, I have a question about "The further the guides are placed away from the tip the more tip velocity will be imparted to the jig. ". About how far from the tip are you placing your first guide on the u.l. blanks that you use? 6" -8" longer? Shorter? Just wondering. Thanks

Measurements made from the tip of spol extended out to its furthest point, toward the tip of the rod to the primary ring of stripping guide, trabnsition guide & first running guide. Stripping guide = 19 1/2 " Transition guide = 30 1/2 " running guide = 39 7/8" this is from sheet included with microwave air system, if this does not help check out the american tackle website

I have the Okuma RTX 25 and it is a good reel, but it has a 200 yd 6lb. mono capacity. I do not own, but it may fit your needs, Okuma Inspira 20B. I do own the Pflueger president XT size 25 and it has been good for me and might be what you are looking for.

I use a butt guide size close to the same size as the line opening in the spin-cast reel.
