Hey Mark....here is an example of Flex Costs customer service. Over fifteen years ago i had a batch of Flex coat HI Build that never fully cured. I sent an email to Flex Coat asking for help why. It wasn't a day later that I got a phone call from non other than Roger Seiders himself. He politely told me I goofed and proceeded to walk me through what I needed to do and how to get exact epoxy.

I have worked on a few of them in the past. Like you said the cork should be no problem. Correct me if I am wrong but the guides should be welded on it. A way I have cleaned up steel rods is to soak them in white vinegar and maybe as long as a couple of days. It should come out pretty good.
Good Luck on this project

The Fuji color is 010 Blue Dun in NOCP matches as close as you can get. This is a rod that I am building and my customer wanted the NRX colors

Just a follow up on the Sea Guide hook keepers. They arrived today from American Rodbuilders Warehouse. They are exactly what I was looking for and I just wanted to thank Ron especially
and everyone that offered input.

Thanks for all the replies.
Ron you are exactly correct. The one on the Hydra website is not a double foot wrapped hook keeper. Thanks
Lance and Mike, I ordered several in different sizes from out sponsor Rob Builders Warehouse.
Norm good to see your still making those great looking drop shot style keepers !!
I appreciate all the input on this project from everyone.

Need some help finding a Kigan hook keeper like they use on the St Croix rods. I didn't see it on the Hydra website?

I like the Microwave guide system and have built quite a few rods using it. Generally I'll let my client decide on what he wants once shown both the Fuji and the AT setups. If there is any drawback to the
MW20 system it is the extremely light weight transition guide. I have experienced a number of failures. Where this guide goes is in the power section of the blank and if was just made strong

I only use a heat gun to soften the glue on the back of decals before I apply them to the fishing rod.

Exactly Mark. By coating the entire arbor, and I use 5 minute liquid epoxy, it is secure in the seat. Depending on the size of the reel seat and then the size of the blank, with the taper, you could have little to nothing at the base end and a thin shim at the front. They work great and I've been using them more many years.

X2 that is exactly how I do it as well. Sometimes it is super thin

I have done several rods using Western Diamondback rattle snake skin. These were purchased from Mudhole and I had no issues and was quite pleased with the results. Back when I did them I found a website that offered the Diamondback skins and later found out he was supplying them to Mudhole.

Rick,
Yes you can use Pro Wrap metallic thread to wrap a guide, and I have done so. The point being to use the correct thread. Pro Wrap has developed Electra metallic thread and if you read the description of it on the Mudhole website you will see that it was developed specifically for wrapping. This is a quote from the website ......
"Inspired by the popular electrifying metallic t
