Bill A better spot for it would be in the trash bucket. It is a pain in the butt and very annoying to me.

It sure sounds like it would be a killer rig. Sweet combo of colors and components. When you do it lets see some pics.

That looks like the text touch although it may be a MVT.
Here is one that is on the Batson site and shows the carbon fiber insert (black) a little better. Click on MVT more info for a better look.

If used on my power wrapper and when I snip the thread on the warp, three to four feet of it doesn't fly off the end of the spool, get tangled in the tension spring, and land on the floor, it will be worth every bit the difference, in savings of wasted thread ! Or am I the only one that has had this problem ?

You didn't mention how you are holding the stock on the drill press table. If by hand it's almost impossible to be dead on. Is the stock square or round? Also I just saw this happen to a friend. He was drilling out a cedar fore grip with a Forstner bit. It went in dead on and came out off center. I looked at it and he had cut the bottom of the grip slightly crooked.. The hole wa

Gary that is a great help. Yes it had intermediate wraps which are gone too. Another question if you don't mind. The stripper guide which is still on the rod was wrapped on one foot then the thread spiraled to the other foot. I was wondering, do you know if they all were wrapped that way? She indicated too that the wraps were green and red would that have made it a different model?

Gary the only decal left on the rod is a partial diamond with Utica NY in it. The owner seemed to think that it ws a Roosevelt but nothing on the rod indicates that. If you would measure the guides on your rod it would be great.
Thanks for yor advice and help.

In the photo below if you change the blank to neon green and use Roger's suggestion of neon green thread with black you will end up with something like this ???

Have a customer that brought me an antique fly rod to have some guides put on it. Although I have built a few fly rods, they aren't what I usually make and I am not by any means up on antique fly rods. According to her it is a Horrocks Ibbotson bamboo rod made in 1930. She wants guides put on and in the origional color which she says is green and red.
The rod is 9 ft long three piece and has

Recently i had the oppurtunity to visit the folks at Mud Hole and Bob McKamey showed this wrapper to me. It is a great idea, and as they said, very affordable.
This would be a must have for anglers that build or repair their own rods and travel. You can keep it on the boat and if you lose or break a guide be able to repair it before your next day of fishing. Since it comes folded flat it wo

Just wanted to let you know that I feel the MVT reel seats are awesome. I have just built a Rod Geeks rod using the MVT with the carbon insert It is super light and Very comfortable. With the color showing under it and the guides matching in light green and black it is a great match up. My customer is so pleased he has asked me to build three more using that seat. The next will be

When any company takes the time to develop new products it raises the bar for everyone. This is a good thing for the rod building industry as a whole. And like Roger said if its not as good it won't be around long, but I doubt that Fuji would ever let that happen. I must say I am intrigued about this new thread and look forward to hearing how we all like it in the coming months.

Most likely the reason a band saw will cut to one side or the other is because of two reasons. Sometimes when the blade is stamped it will get more "set" in one side or the other depending on how it's made.
The other reason is more likely, and that is if you hit something while cutting it will dull the blade on that side. The blade will cut to the side of the sharpest teet

Great video John. Very helpful, I was wondering if you made a larger diameter diaphragm but now see how easy it is to make it.
Chester
Try wrapping the EVA several times around with 1 inch blue painters tape first. It will eliminate the rings in the EVA made by the diaphragm
