I see the Batson 13 inch grip is good to see! I wish they had something shorter like 6-8 inch with the same OD as that. Thanks for pointing that out!

Is anyone aware of any pre made carbon fiber grips that are 1.06 or larger in O.D. I have been making them myself however they aren’t coming out as well as I would like especially in terms of keeping the carbon fiber straight and non distorting. It seems all the pre made stuff is designed for fresh water rods.
Thanks!

To clarify further there were several rods in the car, all were bent, all but one returned to normal. It appears the section where the bend is fiber glass. I do find it strange only this one blank didn’t spring back. Mark i would like to thank you especially as what you wrote seems like a good idea. A heat gun seems like the nuclear option. Thanks again

Hi all I recently purchased and built an 8 foot deep crank bait rod. I left it after fishing it in the car for a few days where it was bent against car roof. Now it has taken that bend permanently. I have left it out hoping it will return to normal but no luck. I remember this happened to me a number of years ago with a fairly inexpensive blank. I was not expecting this to happen to a name brand

Please be wary of extra cheap hair brushes! I used one last year and my guide looked like a chinchilla after all the hair came off the brush. Yes that was after removing the “loose “ hair. I love the disposable flex coat brushes and the 1/2 ox hair also.

Wow man thank you! I appreciate all the detail and time it took you to write that. If I can’t come across a simpler solution I’ll give that a go! Or take it to a gunsmith!!

Just to clarify the reel seat is 18 I think maybe 20 and the reels the haven’t fit are Accurate valiant 400, fury 400, penn fathom 15, maxel hybrid 25 many Shimano reels and the only one that fits that I have is an Avet Mxl which has a wider foot

Recently put an ALPS aluminum trigger seat I had been saving on a build. It looks great but many of my reels won’t fit as the reel foot on these reels is too small. This is frustrating because I wrapped the rod to the colors of the reel. Does anyone know of an adapter or spacer that is made to correct this?

I did a revolver style rod for a friend at work a 12-25 ugly stick blank I had laying around. He showed me a picture of him fishing with it all proud of himself. He put a spinning reel on it I am still laughing

Just checking in to see if there is any input into how these two types of spiral wraps compare in casting distance? Any input appreciated unless it’s “your and idiot” in which case I could have just asked my wife

I use the stuff for archery it doesn’t melt as easily as the hot glue stuff. I used to use that then one summer day all the tips melted and turned down in my car.

Oh and also does anyone know for sure if these are all graphite or composite? I have seen these blanks listed as graphite in one place and composite in another. Thanks again

17. Batson sws70mh
Hi all a few years back I built my friends some Batson sws70m rods to fish for porgy out in montauk. Since then they have all broke. I think this was due to them trying to cast heavier sinkers then the blank was rated for. It always seems that when a rod breaks it’s always on the biggest fish of lifetime never because someone did anything wrong. Anyway I am now looking to build these guys some r

Hi all!
Has anyone tried coating a rod with urethane casting resin? It seems really strong and flexible and has great clarity.
Secondly has anyone tried vacuum degassing rod finish to get all the air out from mixing?

Hey all I'm going crazy looking for a camo variegated thread to match the camo color of an avet reel. Green, brown and tan any ideas? Closest I can find is a color called amazone by Madeira but looks different in every picture

If I want a pb701mhf blank is there a resource that would indicate all the perfect fit hardware that would fit that blank? Or do I have to order the blank first and measure for all the winding checks and stuff?

Hi all. I am building a 15-30 swimbait rod 7'11". I am trying to use a K-R 30h, 20, 16, and a bunch of 10s. I don't want to go smaller so it can pass knots easily. Anyway, I want to eliminate the 16 and just go 30-20-10-10-10 etc. every thing I see though has a stripper and two reduction guides. Is it ok to only use one reduction guide?

Hey all
I love the look and simplicity of dragon scale wrap. However I am having difficulty with small gaps forming as I wrap the metallic thread over the joint tape. I am taking the tape and cutting it to a 1" - 1 1/2" strip and spiraling it up the blank. Then I over wrap with the machine but a lot of gaps form. Has anyone had this problem as well?

Thanks all. I will have to trim the end of grips down to the Id of trim ring as the grips I use rarely have tenons.

Hi all !
If I sand a burnt cork ring in making a grip will the burnt material come off leaving regular cork underneath? Or is that burnt color all the way through the cork ring?
How do I mount a 1 inch metal accent ring between a Eva or cork grip and real seat?
Thanks everybody!!
