Does anyone know what Sage is finishing their grips with? It apprears to be some sort of opaque finish which hides all the cork blemishes. I think Orvis might be doing it as well. Regards

When using single foot guides, have any of you ever put trim bands on both ends of the main wrap? Any issues with too much epoxy under the guide? Thanks

I've been using FC Lite since I ventured into rod building two years ago. Up to now I've been pretty happy with it except for two things...1.) short pot life and 2.) Even though I'm careful not to create bubbles while mixing, inevitably it happens....I do the foil thing,...blow on it...warm it, etc. The bubbles just don't seem to release as easily. Instead of wax on the threaded rod you can also try wrapping the rod with Teflon tape....works great.

Based solely on the description, I built the 9' 5wt without ever casting the factory version. I finished it just before a two week trip to Montana this past summer and really got to put it to the test. The rod is fast but not stiff by any measure you can feel the rod loading even with a short amount of line out. The softer tip on this rod makes it a great dry fly rod but handles double nymph r
