Hello Mark. I took your blank and decide where you want it, then wrap your thread around the blank and cut where the thread comes to its self. Next put a wet, thin coat of color preserver where you want the wrap and let it dry a few minutes till its sticky, and while you are waiting put your cut thread into a puddle of C/P, once the C/P on the blank is sticky take the thread you cut out of th

Hello Robert. I just re-read your first post and it seems I forgot to answer your second question "Do I need to worry about grinding the black finish off of black stainless steel guides? " Well if you want to you can prep the guides and then paint them with black paint, I use Testors model paint, do NOT use a felt tip pen (magic marker) as they have been known to rust your guides

Hello Robert. If the guide is flat enough at the tip and a nice ramp up the guide I don't do anything to them unless they are painted, then I will just hit them with scotchbrite to rough them up a little, but not all the way through the paint, just to give the thread a little something to grab going up the ramp. Hello All. Bill's machine set-up works good, I tried it for kicks, works good Bill! I use two pieces of wood dowel 1/2" X 4" (you can use whatever fits your hand best) with a hole drilled in the center, I use 12" of 80# wire between the two wood dowels. You just hold the handles (Wood Dowels) mark your EVA cutting spot spin the EVA on your lathe (what-ever kind that may be

Hello Russ. Yes I like the HS for 3 or 4 uses, I have about 15 of them set-up 8 or 9 different ways, from drifting the old ATC HS7000 with small pieces of squid on treble hooks for small dolphin to the MHX HS9600 for jigging for Spanish & blues off the pier, to Batson's older HS9001 using small live bait (we are talking silver sided sardine size) drifted either from pier or boat, I've even

hello Kevin. I've got about 35 years fishing NC piers and Spanish and king mackerel were my targeted fish. For king I fish with 30# gear and 8-12# for Spanish, I have always liked "Hot Shot" rods on the pier, but lately (since they made them) I have been putting "Micro Wave" guides on them. Hello Tom. I think Gary had a few questions that he did not know how to ask; Gary Said "It makes sense to me to use tip power to determine the lower end of the lure weight range. Should I use IP or RP for the upper end. I believe I could make an argument for either" It seems to me that he is asking "How to use CCS to define upper and lower lure weight ranges for a blank".
