Customer wants new decal in place of old decal. decal is between rear grip and butt grip. Just wondering what the drawbacks would be to just wrap D thread over old decal, epoxy, and put new decal on top. then epoxy it over. Any help would be appreciated thanks Don.

A guy brought me an old fiberglass surf rod to restore with a name I have never heard of. It's name is Great Fishing Gear with a fish blowing bubbles above the name. I have seen more than my share of fly by night names but this one caught my attention because of the quality of the build and the top notch components used. I am putting new guides on a Castaway rod. cust. wants an extra guide on blank. My question is, what is the best way to clean old guide grooves off blank. Should I sand it off or is there something that will clean it down to the blank.

Over the last few weeks I built six white rods for customers and one for myself. I used Diamond 2 epoxy over the guides and decals. I have used diamond 2 for years and have no complaints at all, until now. About ten days after applying, the epoxy over the decals has a slight tint of yellow. not easily noticed but still there.
