Those Atrex blanks are fantastic. Here in Ontario we have now been allowed to use 3 rods for carp.A lot of European people come here for the Carp Fishing.

I have never used the fuji K series of guides but I have used the Microwave guides in all of the configurations from the MW50s on a carp rod to the the Casting set up on numerous bass rods. The ease of set up and the benefits of line control and casting distance make it hard to change from the proven Microwave guides.

You can also look at the spey rod blanks from sage and get a 4 piece blank to convert to a float rod.

I also use that blank for Large lake trout rods and Bay of Quinte Walleye rods where the walleye grow to 15 lbs,

Take a look at the American Tackle Tornados as your guides. I would use a guide as your tip top and I also agree that size 7 should be the smallest you go.

11. Re: Bill Stevens
Bill and I would talk quite a bit about the Micro guides and how the originals were pulling out under stress. I tried to talk to him after his wife's passing but he had lost all interest in life and anyone. I do miss his wit
Bill I hope for your sake that there is a afterlife and you are with the love of your life.
Rest in Peace Bill. You will be missed.
Thank you for the information Lance

I would take a look at the AMERICAN TACKLE MICROWAVE 50 SPINNING GUIDE SET-DURALITE . These guides will do the job for you and you gain the results of the microwave system.

Is this going to be fished in winter? I normally go 7's and the last 3 guides are your 10 12 20.. No need to step your way through all the guides.

Plus the line flow is better with just a guide. No step up to the tip top. Trying to minimize the amount of drag on the line while using a center pin reel

Do you use the 9mm or the 9.5 mm reel seat for this blank? I usually only use the top 32 to 36 inches.

First of where is he fishing? If you look to Dave Orr's post about lake trout he uses a solid fiberglass blank from Rainshadow and cuts them to size. I use the same blank for large walleye in the Bay of Quinte. The rainshadow solid glass 385X.105X72 blank.

You could call mudhole and see if they still have the blanks in stock

For a starting point you could start at 3" 7" 12" 18" which is adding one inch to each spacing. Then do a static test and adjust as required.

You may want to look at American tackles travel series of blanks . 3 piece blanks at a very competitive price. I would look at AT841-3 or the AT842-3 with my preference being the 842

The Microwaves are a system that have been put together to work optimally. I would not suggest that you split up a set of guides . Either stay with the microwaves or try another system but dont mix two guide trains .
Myself I would stay with the Microwaves.

you should not have any problems on the felt. the only weight running on it would be the weight of the blank. If you are using wooden v blocks with felt you could always add two thumb tacks on either side of the v and an elastic band over the blank so it wont jump up.

That was my point in the first place. Bill seems to have a opinion on everything yet never has used any of it. I happen to have used the Micro wave guides both the casting and the spinning guides and I like them alot. I also use the 27x method when a customer wants other guides then the microwave guide system. Don from american tackle tells the Original poster to not use the 27x or static testing
