Hello all. I am trying to build myself a micro panfish rod. I found a 20" UL blank and now I'm just trying to get it all together. I know I can buy premade ice rod handles, but I want to checkerboard the cork so I'm looking to save some room on the reel seat. The local shop where I usually buy components doesn't really have what I need so I thought I would ask here where I'm sure some ice ro

Hello to you guys. I recently came across a couple of old orange and black zebra kencor blanks. I am having a more experienced rod builder build these for me. That being said, I want to have a 2 dollar bill inlayed either on the bottom portion of a split grip, or just above the foregrip where traditionally a decorative wrap will go. Some of you guys know what the blank looks like, it is the tenle

I dont remember the name of the program I am looking for, but it would help pick out thread combos. It was a free program, and it had a blank, and options for inserting different color combos going up and down the virtual blank.
Do any of you know what I am talking about? Thinking back, it might have been a flash site rather than a program.
Anyway, any help is appreciated.

8. Re: Shipping
You could try a heavy duty cardboard tube. Thats what cabelas shipped my crappie rod in. Definitely lighter than PVC.

Thats what I figured. I was just curious because it would save space.

Well, I did say at least. I was guessing. I only gave it a once over. I will look for markings this weekend. I am saying from the 70s because it was in my uncles garage, and he was born in 1947. Maybe the 60s would be a better guess.

It is currently still at my uncles. I will have to get it this weekend to figure it out. It is at least from the 70s if that is any indication.

Hello again. I was going through my uncles garage and I came across an old fly blank rod. The guides are rusty, the wraps are coming undone, and overall it is in bad shape. The blank though has a really nice action, and I would like to turn it into a crappie rod. Anyway, I stripped off the guides and handle and I am left with the blank. Now, under the wraps the blank is way darker than what was e

Hello all. I bought a pac bay rodsmith RW-3L at the west coast show, and I havent been able to put it together yet. I recently moved into a new place and I dont have room for it yet. Anyway, in the past I used a grizzly hobby lathe to turn my handles, then I glued everything up and hand wrapped. With the new power wrapper can I forgo the hobby lathe and turn the cork on the rod using the power wr

When you say white poker chips, do you mean the cheap plastic ones they sell at CVS right? Not the ABS or clay expensive ones?

I have a hobby lathe, not a heavy duty lathe so I have never tried to turn anything but cork and foam. TAP has stores you can walk in? I thought it was mail order only.

I am going to try to make a rod with dodger colors on the handle, guides, and maybe a marblization. So, I am going to put thin foam accent rings in the cork and I know the white will get dingy after use on the water. Is it common to put finish on cork? I am racking my brain trying to think how else to put white in my handle, and other than from a sheet of foamies I cant think of anything I can do
