I have used the ties for years, but several months ago I purchased some circular clamps, but only purchased a dozen. I want to get some more of them, but can't remember the supplier. Which is why I am seeking out other rod builders.
Thanks for the reply

Most of my rod building is with bass and crappie rods. Recently, I have been trying fly rods, but the upper sections, by the tip, is too flexible for the jig I am using. With my current setup, there is too much tension on the rod and it bends too much for my comfort. Are there any suggestions out there on how to wrap the upper section of a fly rod?

5. Lathe type
I was watching a You-tube video and saw a lathe where had the cork was already attached to the rod blank. The majority of the blank went through the head stock( guides were not attached yet). Does anyone know what type of lathe this is and where I might find one---- a company not necessarily a store?

A good friend recently moved to the Panhandle of Flordia. He has ask me to build him a rod for both salt and fresh water capable of landing catches in the 10-20 lb range using a spinning rig. My experience is with Bass and Crappie rods so I am having a difficult time finding a blank that would meet his needs. Can anyone more familiar with the fishing in Flordia Gulf offer some suggestions. I

I have a Grizzle wood lathe and have been trying to use it to turn my cork handles. My problem is the mandrel spins when i put pressure on the cork. If I tork it down, the mandrel bows. What added attachments should i add to the headstock and the tailstock that will allow me to turn the cork

11. too much heat?
I am removing some old guides on a rod and have used a hair dryer with OK results.
My question is, would a heat gun be too much heat for the blank?
I have been able to remove 95% of the old epoxy, but there seems to be a residual film of the old epoxy on the blank that just seems to smear itself around when I try to scrape it off after applying the heat.
Any words of wisdom or suggestio

I have a rod that I need to move the guides. Once I remove the guide and the wrap, are there any suggestions for getting that extra portion of flex coat off the blank (that small portion that extends beyond the wrap).
I don't want to scratch or damage the blank.
This is the first time I have removed guides and then moved them further along the bland. Can the flex coat be removed with chem
