I did not think either of these blanks were in the CC database, it turns out the MHX rods are, just not in alphabetical order. For some reason they are all at the end of the list.
The ERN is 5.5 and the AA is 70. As I understand it, that is a pretty fast rod with some power.

I just all manufacturers described their rods like Rodgeeks.

It's moot because the whole industry seems to be out of 9' 5wts.

It's the butt section, and it's on a 10' blank, which I don't even know how I got. So it's coming off.

13. NFC vs MHX
Let me first apologize for such a crappy post last night. There was no where enough info to answer it, so thank you for those who so graciously did without pointing out the errors of my ways.
I fly fish mostly subsurface with a sinking line, sometimes dries, never nymph. So I like a rod with power in the butt and some softness in the tip. Finished, or unfinished makes no difference to me.

So, I'm in a strange bind. I glued up my handle and reel seat, but then discovered my blank had a broken ferrule. So I want to salvage the handle and reel seat to put it on another blank.
Is there a chemical which will dissolve the Rod Bond or am I drilling this out? Or does the hive mind have another suggestion?

Are you in contact with Dan? Does he still have site? Still making blanks? I've been looking for him and even emailed him but never heard back.

Is Dan Still in business? His site is gone and emails to him go unanswered.

Maybe not applicable here, but I find 10' rods better for fishing the beach as it gives you just a little more ease in your back cast against the slope.
That said, depending on how tall you are or how far you have to wade, they extra length will also keep your line out of the water on a back cast.
I tend to do a lot of single hand spey casts, or if I have a fighting but use the second hand to

I ran across this image:
On Jonnyspond.com. I'm looking for the rainbow-colored single foot fly guide on the upper left corner.
The list of colors on the site does not have enough choices to match all of the guides pictured, so I'm not even sure if they have it. I called and emailed to no avail.
I also looked at the PacBay catalog and can not find this item.

From the RG site FAQs.
How do your blanks compare to ?
Unfortunately, there are no universal standards to describe a blank, so we can’t always say how our blanks compare to another company’s. However, feel free to contact us and we will describe the blank the best we can to help you get a sense for what it's like.
I invited them to the thread.

I'd use kilometers! ;-)
Whomever you are talking to, you need to find a common language. Most people have speed and power conflated anyway, but they still think they know what it means. You have to start there.

Except if my friends from France are visiting and they measure in Celsius they have no idea what 85 means. So I'd tell them the forecast is that it is going to be "Hot." ;-)
I'm sure we are agreeing on all points. As rodmakers we can discuss in data, but for other people we would translate into the vernacular.

If Mudhole say the MHX is medium fast and I'm thinking the rod will bend about 1/3 of the way down the shaft, but then I get an AA number that tells me exactly how far it bends down the shaft and I convert that back to the slow-fast spectrum that makes perfect sense to me. When I read Hanneman what I read was: Here is the historical, subjective definition of slow, med, fast. I propose we give a q

Tom, I took my categorization of "fast" directly from Hanneman's PDF. Sorry if I mispoke:

The Action Angle (AA) is a concept developed in the
“Common Cents Approach to Characterizing Fly Rods,”
which will be thoroughly explained shortly. It is based on

Thank you for wrapping my head around this again. So my MHX definitely falls into fast. Although I believe Mudhole characterizes it as MF.
I'm so surprised I can cast it, because I definitely have more experience with slower rods!

I cannot get into the CCS system on either FF or Chrome. The menu doesn't work in either. On FF, when I click the Login button, the sign in doesn't show up, on Chrome, it will let me register but the Capcha is not displaying. If I Google CCS info it takes me to what I assume is the page the menu would take me to, when I click on CCS data, I get a broken link. :-(
