There are number of links to fujitackle.eu in threads on the 3+1 reduction guides in threads on this board. Can't get any of them to work.

I am not able to connect to fujitackle.eu. Is anyone else having this problem? Trying to access the links to the info on the high belly guides.

I am building a HS760-1 Delta LMX. I am sure it will work fine for 1 and 2 oz. Might be too light for 3 oz, will see. I really like the Delta LMX blanks. I have a HS7600-1 I use to pull a spinner with a bullet sinker in the weeds. Happily surprised how sensitive the blank is and the action is perfect. If you are going to hold it in hand, they are very light for this type blank.

For finesse fishing I think it is worth spending a little more on a blank. You get a lighter, more responsive and more sensitive blank. The Rainshadow Immortal blanks are a step up from the Revelation. The Immortal Walleye Series has a 7'6" ML blank.

For reduction guides I like the Seaguide HLG much better than the Pac Bay versions. The swaging is much more consistent and the Adaman coating is much harder than chromed steel.

I find it depends on how I how hold the spinning reel. I typically hold the stem of the reel between ring and pinky finger, and like the seats down locking. Holding the reel stem between my middle and ring finger I find uplocking more comfortable. Positions the hump in the palm of my hand better.

Another factor that can important is the actual opening size. The ss #4s have a larger opening than the ceramic ring #4s. So if that is important you would have to compare ceramic #4.5 or #5 to ss #4.

In many cases the series of rods is species specific with each model labeled for a given presentation/lure. I personally think St Croix does a pretty darn good job with their recommendations. There are other not exactly custom, but definitely not mass produced, manufactures that put a lot of time into developing rods for specific techniques. Alpha Angler is a company that works directly with

It seems to me that St Croix must find it profitable to offer a rod based on a SC3 6'8" MXF blank in multiple of species specific and non species specific models. You can get an Eyecon, Mojo Bass or Avid. More choices for the consumer, more sales for the manufacturer and retailer. Everybody wins.

Why not help people who are not as knowledgeable or experienced make an informed decision? Doesn't seem like some grand conspiracy to me.

The MHX MB752XF is one of my favorite walleye blanks. The Rainshadow IMMWS62MXF is very similar in action and power. Really a matter of color preference picking between the two. I have been using Seaguide guides with Adaman coating lately. HLG for reduction, MKG for runners and a ceramic ring top. Makes for a really light build. HLGs and MKGs are now available in gunsmoke and silver in add

Does anyone have CCS numbers for Rainshadow IMMS68MXF and/or IMMSW68MXF? I have the older RX8 versions of both, but not the Immortal versions. Thanks

I would go with the IMMS610MXF over the 68ML. I think the IMMWS72ML would be better than either of those 2.

My guess is he chose walleyes because that is what he fishes for.

Often the options to address problems depend on the equipment you have. As a hobby builder I do not have a lathe to turn arbors. I have come to like dry wall tape. A few issues have driven me to this determination. Reamers are typically tapered more aggressively than blanks. If gluing the arbors into the reel seat before reaming, the rear of the seat is often over reamed. I have had to add

I think an XF blank would actually work against you for working the bait. The softer tip is going to absorb some of the effort you are imparting to the lure. Jerk bait rods are sort of a compromise. A stiffer blank imparts more action to the lure but you have to land a fish on pretty small treble hooks. I think that is what they are getting at in the video. Bend in mid section to help land

I was fortunate to get a SC 4C68MXF after SC quite selling blanks. An unfortunate encounter with a wind gust and rod locker lid ended that rods usefulness I built a C4610MXF hoping to get a reasonable replacement and I did not find the blank to be at all similar. It was much more moderate in action. I find the MHX Mag XF blanks to be much more similar in action to the SC XF blanks. I woul

I like the XF because the tip loads better for casting. The Tatula and the NRX are both rated similarly but, the NRX has a softer tip and overall less power.

I would suggest the Rainshadow IMMWS72ML. Very similar to a St Croix 70MLF which I would have recommended back in the day. I think it would serve better for panfish than the 68MXF. Very nice tip, good backbone. The 68MXF is significantly more powerful and is a great blank for heavier jigs.

Reviewing the data the S68ML is more powerful and faster than the 68MXF. Based on my experience with Immortal blanks and the RX8 blanks before that, this surprises me.

Given past experience with blanks from other Rainshadow series it is quite surprising to me that the 68MXF would have the lowest intrinsic power of the spinning blanks.

Not entirely familiar with Rage 610MXF, but I have built a number of blanks looking for a replacement for SC S68MXF. I have built the Rainshadow versions and the Rod Geeks Carbon 4 version. I think the closest action to a SCIII is the MHX Mag XF MB812XF. I am a pretty big fan of the MHX Mag XF blanks, the others are not quite as XF as the MHX.

Has anyone purchased the carbon fiber grip for the Fuji VSS1615 reel seat from NFC? I purchased one, it didn't fit. I also purchased one for a VSS16 at that time. Both parts seemed identical. I thought I may have been sent the wrong item, so I reordered a VSS1615 grip. I just received that item and again it does not fit. Just wondering if anyone has has a similar experience with this it

The Alps LF guides make a nice reduction train. I have used 20-12-8-6 followed with XP mini guides for runners.

Ice rods are some of the most custom rods available. Many ice rod builders refine tapers of solid carbon and fiberglass blanks to fine tune rods for specific lure weights and presentations.

Have any of you weighed the DS698-15? Mudhole shows 1.74 oz, the ATC site shows 2.08.

I use a 1/2 oz blades a lot for walleyes and smallmouths. My favorite blanks are MHX Mag XF 2 power. I have not used it, but I would think that the MB863XF-MHX would work great for blades up to 3/4 oz. Blade baits are a little funny. They have treble hooks but you need enough power in the blank to work the bait. I like soft tips of the Mag XF blanks to help keep fish hooked, but still ha

Back in the day a St Croix 76MLXF in SCII, III, IV or V would have fit the bill perfectly. Couple of ideas now would be a MHX popping blank, a Batson Revelation Hot Shot blank or a Batson Immortal 76ML walleye blank. I don't build salt water inshore rods, but a 1/4 oz jig and paddle tail seems to be a pretty standard presentation and popping blanks seem like a good place to look.

St Croix rods has handle information on all of their rods on their website. The have a variety of handle configurations using a variety of reel seats so it is a good resource. The handle charts provide a scale that you can compare to the different handle configurations to get at least an idea of the lengths. It isn't precise, but you can get close. This can at least give you a starting point
