I've only built on one Phenix blank - an ultralight blank for trout. Has anyone built one these blanks? I've read good reviews on them. Only concern is that the butt section is 1" wide and would call for a larger reel seat? Size - I don't know.
I would build this with KW guides - all double foot or KR concept style?
Thanks

Personally, the 2 rods I have built with the Aero seats were downloading with no foregrips.

Thanks guys. My problem is in the actual listing of the rods - specifically the PDF file that lists all their blanks with all the details. That file is no where to be found (a correct one that lists ALL their blanks) anyway...

I'm looking for my Winter build. I'd like to build a llong rod that will handle small, shallow crankbaits. I plan on building the rod as a spinning rod.
My problem: The Point Blank website and the PB downloadable PDF do not match up. The website has some 7'10' moderate crankbait rods which are not listed on the PDF.
Between the website, the PDF, and Mudhole, all have differnt details on th

Tom,
Thanks. Would it make more sense for me to ream them in only 1 direction - namely toward the inside of the grip??

Looking at the possibility of using CFX Carbon Fiber grips/butts on my Winter build. Do you need to ream them out to make them fit? If so, how do you ensure they don't unravel? I was looking at the CFX butt, rear grip, and the foregrip for my TVS reel seat with hidden thread.
Thanks in advance..

I'm really liking all my Point Blank rods for largemouth, smallmouth, and pike fishing. Here are my favorites;
PB701LXF - Love this rod!! Loves 1/4 oz lures
PB691MLXF dropshot rod spinning rod
PB691MXF - multipurpose spinning rod
PB76MHXF - baitcasting flip/pitch & frog rod
However, I grew up in the Ultralight world fishing small lures for hungry NY trout. Last year, Norm helped with

As a hobby rod builder, I build 1 rod every year during the Winter months. What started out as a "Free rod parts give-away by Anglers Resource when you purchase a Point Blank rod blank" has turned into a love for rod building especially the Point Blank rods that I have recently built.
PB761MHXF (Frog, flipping/pitching, and pike favorite)
PB681MLXF (4" stick worm favorite,)

Just got an email from Tyler at Phenix. A new decal will be forthcoming.

I requested another decal from Phenix.
Worst case scenario is that I won't get one. Can I actually glue my old label on using glue and then cover it with epoxy?
Crazy glue?
Rod building glue like "@#$%& or High Water"?

Thanks. I normally build 1 rod during the Wintertime. This year was an exception. The PB701LXF was planned - the Phenix was not (But I do like it a whole lot more than the GL rod!)

I've just finished building the FX561-1-B. It'll work out great as my small stream rod and "Summer" trout rod when the waters in Western MD are very low and the trout super spooky. I'll be using 2 lb mono on a 500 sized reel. This rod cast 1/16 lures with ease in testing...

This has got to be the worst decal I have ever used. My decal looked old, wrinkled, and had no stick at all. Almost impossible to remove from the card. I will probably end up removing once the epoxy dries...
Anyone else have problems? This decal looks like it was sitting around some warehouse collecting dust..
Give me a Point Blank decal anytime!!!

I just tried Flexcoats "H-- or High Water" and it seems to be holding up great on my last build - a PB701LXF spinning rod.

Good info on GPS data for shorter rods. That is usually my first step followed by the two line static test.
This will assist me in my Phenix 5'6" Elixir build next month.

Love my Vanford 2500 on my PB691 spinning rods! Looking at buying a 500 size for my Winter.Phenix 5'6" Elixor UL build (with a TVS sizes 16 reel.seat)
I use a lot of TVS reel seats on my PB rods. I can feel the blank through the insert window.as well as forward of the foregrip. I use the TVS reel seats with the hidden threads.

Thanks for all the help. Since this will be my Christmas" gift, I won't be starting it until New Years day. I like having all the parts and techniques worked out before I start any rod project. I also have 2 rods that need new grips on them and some saltwater rod grips that need some shrink wrap on them.
Thanks again to all...

Thanks all. After gluing the grip to the reel seat, do I need to wrap tape around them before letting them cure overnight?
