Thanks for the help, I did look into the Global Dorber's rods and it looks like I may give it a try cause I can not find any other 2 piece with the exception of the CTS and don't know if I want to wait that long on it.

Hey Bill,
That may be a good idea, I looked at and it may sure enough fit the bill. Quick question....any idea on lure weight versus fly line weight? or at least how to do a conversion on it.
Thanks again

Hey Herb,
Yes he does some nymphing but he also wants it to fish some bluegills too, he just asked if it was possible so the search has begun. A 3 piece is not as hard to find as a 2 piece in this size and weight.

I am looking for a 10' 3wt fly blank that is a 2 piece, I have looked at a lot of sites but haven't come up with one yet.
Any ideas who would have one?
Thanks, Rob

Because I grant you this, I never build two the same, so that makes them truly one of a kind and I am sure you cannot buy one like it, anywhere!

Also try some Static Guard Spray, you can get it in cans at Wally world or your wife may even have some. We use it everyday at work to remove marks put on metal and fiberglass done with a Sharpie.

Looks more like contamination, if you look closely you can almost see "swipe" marks in photos 2 and 3, did you use any cleaners maybe between applications?

Thanks Charles! that is what I am looking for, I would love to know a few details on how you done the process, my fear I guess is keeping the parts rotated to keep my base coat from running, after it starts to set then im ok, but getting that first part is what is eluding me, any info would be great!
thanks

Im with Barry on this one, I would like to know a little more about the paints and the wacky noodle, I may have in mind what your doing, maybe?. The method I use is the same one on here in the library section, or the "Putter" style of marbling, works great but I'm not real sure on how to do some odd ball shaped pieces like I mentioned, I am going to try something tomorow.
I also wonder

I have been thinking about trying this to a couple of reels, I only want to do like the side plates on a Abu 6000 or something. I have done quite a few marbled rods and maybe I am just overthinking it but do I need to somehow rotate the parts as the base coat is setting up, if not it would just run off, right? I have been trying to think how I could make some kind of "stand" of sorts so

I had posted about ATC blank labels and it seems they are peel and stick, never applied finish over peel and stick before, anything speacial I should do or look out for?
Thanks, Rob

Thanks Jerry,
Can I apply finish over it or do you think it will curl or just not be user friendly.

I bought a few of the ATC blanks that Scott had at the Expo, question is: the label that came with them, does anyone know if they are water slide or stickers?
Thanks, Rob

I have seen some photo's before of reels and such that have been marbeled (Putter's stuff mainly) and I was wanting to do some sideplates off of a reel to match a rod, how do I go about doing this without the finish just sagging off the sides (they are beveled sightly on a 113H) and ruining it? Do I need to figure out some way of keeping it turning like my rods? Cant get it figured out in my head

I hear what your saying Ed, but I don't think Tru-Oil penetrates that much, I have done several grips with it and it seams to be mainly a top coat rather than a penetration oil like tung oil, but I would try it on a scrap blank first though.

Has anyone done this? I tried a search but came up with nothing, I am soon going to build a 9' casting rod and was planning on using a split grip style small cork fore and rear grip with cork tape in center and wanted to Tru-oil the grips and maybe the tape as well, any thoughts?
Thanks, Rob

Does anybody know if there is such a thing, and if so where can I get it. I saw an older photo of some of Doc's rod's and thought that was what I had seen on one as an underwrap.
Thanks, Rob

What I have is a burgandy blank and I have already planned on wrapping the guides with garnet and trim in silver, also all my hardware including the guides is silver. I am going to do a small butt wrap on this rod and wanted to do three or so shades of something to go along with the garnet, any suggestions?
Thanks, Rob
